OTS Tee + Laser Cut Sandals

|
Last summer I became a big fan of pull-on shorts, and with summer in full swing here I'm starting to reach for them a lot again. Sometimes jean shorts just seem too heavy for the weather! Last week I shared my newest linen khaki pair, but in the next few posts you'll be seeing some old favorites, most of which are either available again this year or have similar options in stock. I shared six ways to wear this olive pair when I first got them last summer so feel free to check out that post for more styling ideas. But this time I wanted to pair them with my newish off-the-shoulder-tee.

I swore off this style of top last summer after being annoyed with the fussiness, but I gave it one mroe shot this year and I really am liking this! I can't tell you it's as un-fussy as a regular tee, but I've worn this one a few times now and though it does take just a bit of adjusting throughout the day, I don't find it bothering me too much. Or maybe I should say that I find the occasional adjustments worth it for the overall look of the top...your tolerance of "fussiness" may vary!

The top (I'm wearing a Small) and everything else here ran true to size for me. For reference here's a look at the first way I styled this top...with another pair of pull-on shorts! Oops. Not a lot of variety here but I like the balance of fitted on top, flowy on bottom.

You can also see how the top rides a bit higher on the shoulders in the photo on the left vs. the right. The opening is cut very wide so you can't really wear it on your shoulders, but if you want it to stay way down (like the outfit on the right), you will have to adjust it more often. The photo on the left is probably the more natural placement of the top, which is still "off the shoulder" enough for me.

One of the most common requests on my blog and most others (from what I see on reader surveys and such) is seeing items styled multiple ways. If you're into that sort of thing, I've shared almost every piece from both outfits here multiple ways. For easy reference, here are some past posts featuring more ways to wear these items:
All that's left to repeat from today's outfit are my nude laser-cut wedge sandals. I talked about these in Monday's post of Amazon favorites for July. They're new to me this year and I've had no problem putting them into multiple outfits. If you'd like more details on any of the other pieces in the outfits I've linked to their original post along with the outfit details below:

I think some of my past "Multiple Ways to Wear Posts" could use an update this summer, so don't be surprised if you see some repeat topics in the coming weeks. While the topics might be recycled, the content won't be the same since there are new outfits to include and updated shopping options for this year. The longer I have some of these pieces, the more chances I get to wear them, photograph them, and make a legitimate case for their usefulness! My blogging goal for this year has been to shift  away from having a lot of one-and-done outfit posts, so I hope you've enjoyed seeing more "multiple ways to wear" posts. And if you have a request for an item you'd like to see styled multiple ways, I'd love to hear it so leave me a comment here or send me an email!

  1. If you are looking for fashion accessories online at best deals, then Les Mauvais Garçons is one of the best choices you have.

  2. i really like that OTS tee and may investigate it myself! I feel like with OTS it's all about the elastic. If it is too tight it keep riding up and I keep pulling it down - that drives me NUTS. I'm slowly editing my closet and pitching those.
Those laser cut nude sandals are fabulous! They look great on you - I just love a nude shoe - legs for miles!
I am still just loving that rust tiered skirt on you - perfection!

    1. This tee actually doesn't have any elastic on the shoulders! It's just cut very wide open. I'd be interested in your opinion on it since you are an expert on this style!

  3. I really like your shift to show more ways to wear one item. It is amazing how just switching out the shoes and shorts - can totally change up the look. I am with you on denim shorts - they seem to be all I have collected in my closet - but they can be not so comfortable on a hot, humid day! I hope you have a great day!

    1. Isn't it funny how these two outfits are composed of the same elements (same tee, pull on shorts, wedge sandals) but somehow have a different vibe? I do love my denim shorts but pull on are definitely more comfy for my everyday activities (i.e. sitting at my desk while I work from home!)

  4. I am here for all the "multiple ways to wear" posts! I also get frustrated with the one-and-done outfits and LOVE seeing more styling ideas! You are always so cute and a great fashion inspiration, and you help me get more use out of my clothing items (which my wallet and husband appreciate!). Keep up the great work! :)

    1. I hear ya - I definitely could not have functioned in this style of top when I had toddlers/preschool age kids! Having older kids comes with quite a few liberties! Ha!

  8. I recently styled an off the shoulder top, too, and they are quite fussy, aren’t they? But I agree, a little fussiness is worth the overall cute look. I love this top on you and it looks equally great with the darker shorts and the white shorts.

    1. Yep, I can't say it's "no fuss" and I'm usually picky about that. But I compromised because I loved the look and it's "not terribly bad fuss" like other OTS tops I've worn! With some I can't even move my arms to type on the keyboard!! No thanks!

  9. The top looks gorgeous and I love the pull on shorts. I finally found a pair that I don't feel frumpy in at the GAP the other day. It's something to do with how they lay at the waist. The laser cut sandals were a great find...maybe it's time I try a pair of shoes from amazon!

  10. Haha, I don't look as darling as you do, but I recently purchased a few linen pairs from Old Navy. They're almost too comfortable! I completely agree that denim is Too. Hot!

    1. LOL! I am sure you look fabulous in them! And yes, Old Navy has a great selection of this style of shorts! A few of my favorites are from there.

  11. I love this OTS top and shorts! I don't own any pull-on shorts but you always look great in them and it's such a nicely polished Summer outfit! I think jean shorts can look too casual, so these are a more put together option. I'd wear that outfit to dinner or to a friend's birthday.

I really enjoy seeing how you remix your outfits Gina so keep it up! The direction you're going in is really helpful.

    1. Thank you so much, Noelle! It's funny that these shorts FEEL more casual (almost like loungewear) but they do work for dressier outfits - moreseo than jean shorts in my opinion!

  12. I'm glad you gave this top another chance because I think it really is flattering on you! I like how it looks with pull on shorts!
