Top View Outfits February

Based on feedback from my newsletter community and some of your comments on this post, I'm bringing back some of my top view outfit selfies today. For now I'm thinking I'll share these on the last Monday of the month, possibly more or less often depending on how many decent pictures I get! Some of these outfits or pieces have been shared in other posts so I'll link to those in case you want to take look at the fit etc. from the front view.

ONE: (This outfit originally shared here)
Sweater (c/o) | Jeans | Boots (c/o) [Similar for Less] | Nail Polish | Similar Bag

Everything in Outfit One is true to size, with the sweater having a relaxed fit.

TWO: This jacket originally shared here, over-the-knee boots posted here.

All pieces ran true to size. I do think the morning light or clouds did something funny to the color of this jacket. It's more light grey in person and it looks kind of lavender here. The color is more accurate in my original post and in the stock photo.

THREE: This tunic sweater originally posted here.

This sweater is true to size, but it's in "batch" sizing (not sure what else to call it!). Small/Medium or Large/X-Large. I think it runs closer to the bigger of those two sizes.

FOUR: This striped cardigan was last seen here.

All pieces run true to size for Outfit Four. This photo must have been from November or earlier because my nails are still white! I think I'll stick with dark nails until March or so, then I'll probably segue from pinkish-white back to white by summer. Not that anyone cares. Just rambling! Ha!

FIVE: Coat and Top first posted here
Exact Coat at Amazon and Revolve (c/o Shopbop)| Grey Top | Similar Sailor Pants | Boots (c/o Shopbop) | Necklace

This outfit is really similar to the first time I posted this coat, but didn't want to fuss with a scarf that day so I opted for a layered necklace. I also switched to black boots since I was wearing black dress pants and I thought my cognac ankle boots would be too casual for the pants. I wouldn't mind a dressier pair but haven't found one I love.

SIX: Front View of this outfit is this post.
Purple Turtleneck (c/o) | Cardigan (c/o) | Black Jeans | Handbag (c/o) | Boots (c/o) | Belt | Necklace

Everything in this outfit is also true to size. In writing this post I've realized I say that a lot, and I think it's partly because I do almost all of my shopping online and returns via mail now. If I order something and my normal/expected size doesn't fit...there's a good chance it's just going back and I'm not exchanging it. I don't wan't to wait that long for the return to get shipped back to the warehouse and then even longer for them to process it and send me the correct size. Also, it's just easier to blog about pieces that fit true to size!

I have fallen out of the habit of doing these photos but have been trying to get back into it lately (when it's not pouring rain). I was relieved to find it's like the proverbial riding a bike! For my blogger friends who have asked how to take this type of picture, my blogger friend Caryl taught me and she has a very thorough post with tips and tricks here. If you still can't get the hang of it after that...well, we'll just have to meet up in person so I can show you my ways!

Tomorrow I have a bonus post for special sale, then on Wednesday it's time for a monthly update. I hope you'll stop by and say hi!

  1. Once I finish here I am checking out your friends tips and tricks! Isn't it funny how we can tell when a picture was taken by looking at something like our nail color? I laughed when I read that because that is so something I would know about myself! These are great photos because all the pieces can be seen, I'd love to meet up in person to learn your ways!!! Have a wonderful week Gina!

    1. Thanks Kellyann! I would be happy to teach you! :)

  2. I love wrap ups like this with lots of style inspiration in one place, even if it is a little too warm for these options at the moment here, haha! Thank you for including that how too link too, I can never get the posing right for these kind of shots, maybe it's because I have such tiny arms!

Hope that you have been having a wonderful weekend :) I just posted my weekday wear linkup, I'd love you to join! :)

    Away From The Blue

    1. Trust me, I have seen your pics and your arms are not too short for this type of photo. :) They don't need to be extended far at's mainly about the angle. I think Caryl's post will help!

  3. You and Caryl are pros at taking these pics. Loving all these classic outfits, I feel like this year you are having a long Fall/Winter. No such luck here.

    1. Yes we are! "Fall" came late but it quickly turned into the winteriest winter we've had since I've been here!

  4. Yay, I adore your outfit selfie’s and I’m going to have to check out those tips! The Moto jacket and tunic sweater are my favorites! I hope you have a marvelous Monday beautiful friend!

  5. I am so glad you are bringing back these photos. That first outfit is a favorite of mine! Isn't funny how the camera can change the color of something - before I read it was grey, I was thinking - oh, I like the purple color jacket.

  8. I love how you can really see all the accessories well in these photos! And I like wrap up posts like this because there are so many good outfit inspirations in one post! I'll have to check out Caryl's post because I always struggle with this angle!
