Grey Moto Jacket Take Two

|
To know me is to know that I am a collector of moto jackets. I needed a new one like I needed a hole in my head, but my Express Birthday Reward was burning a hole in my pocket so I snatched this up! I already have a similar one: the blogger favorite BlankNYC moto jacket (shared further down in the post) but I have never loved that one as much as everyone else! I love the color and styling, but it is heavy and bulky to me. I just don't reach for it a lot, which is sad considering the price!

This one looked like a great, less expensive (especially on sale), lighter weight option, and that's exactly what it is. It's a definitely a cropped length, but I like that on my frame. It's true to size, comfortable, and easy to move in. I wore this outfit for errands on the weekend and straight into a casual date night. It wasn't fancy but choosing a moto jacket over a cardigan as a completer piece always dresses up an outfit just a little more.

For comparison's sake, here's a look at the BlankNYC jacket. It is a bit longer in length, has a belt, and is warmer and bulkier. It's a very nice quality jacket, but again, just my personal preference that the Express version is easier to wear!

This second outfit came from my post last year: Four Ways to Wear Taupe Knee High Boots. Honestly, at this point I could level-up that post to a dozen or more ways to wear them since I really use them a lot! They are a no-brainer way to complete an outfit. And considering I just posted six ways to wear taupe over-the-knee boots on Monday, it's clear that taupe boots of any variety are as much a favorite as moto jackets for me! If you want to go way back to 2015, you can see my post with 4+ ways to wear taupe ankle boots. I should call those my gateway taupe boots since I think that was my first pair ever. They helped me realize just how versatile this color is. Coming soon will be three ways to wear the taupe scrunch boots I got in the fall (e.g. see them styled here)! I wouldn't really say I'm proud of my collecting habits, but at the very least I can say that I do really put them to good use so it's not a taking-up-space-and-collecting-dust kind of thing.

All that said, feel free to share your fashion, "can't stop collecting!" items below so I can feel like I'm in good company with mine!

  1. Both jackets are lovely on you! You already know my 'can't stop collecting' category is bags, haha! Although I am partial to scarves as well ;)

Thank you for the link up!

Hope that you are having a great start to your week :)

    1. LOL yes, I do know you favor those two categories! We all have our thing! :)

  2. Good buy Gina - I like the Express one much better - you are right - less bulk! I'm not a fan of the belt on moto jackets - they seem to get in the way. Does anyone actually use them? I have thought of getting a nice moto jacket - the one I currently have is a Target brand but I'd need a lightweight one for sure. Glad you used that birthday reward on something you are going to love wearing!
The whole look is terrific on you!

    1. Thanks Kellyann! That's really true about the belt! I have two moto jackets that have a belt and they are constantly in the way or sliding off. I'm glad you pointed that out...definitely won't buy any more with a belt!

  3. Love that new moto jacket. And yes taupe boots and booties have been a game changer for me, they go with everything!

    1. Totally agree with you on the taupe boots! I think I wore a lot more black shoes before I knew about taupe, but I just like this color better!

  4. Sweet Gina, you slay it in a moto jacket every time! Absolutely like the lighter weight option best but you can totally pull off any outfit with such style, grace and a fun factor! Have a wonderful Wednesday!

  5. I agree -the BlankNYC jacket is heavy. I like a lighter jacket, too. I collect boots/shoes. My newest boot to collect is the hiking boot. I just can't stop buying them, but I wear them a lot in the winter since it can snow from October through May.

    1. Yeah, the BlankNYC jacket is more of an outerwear piece than an outfit piece. And I guess I generally favor the latter kind! I think we need to see some pics of your hiking boots!

  6. Oh, I love the light gray color of the new jacket. Really pretty and it'll be a great color for early spring when it's still a bit nippy.

  9. Gina, I love it! Mostly because I have somewhat of a moto jacket addiction myself...I have at least a dozen! But I don’t have a gray one...hmmmm...you are tempting me. I love the gray paired with the taupe boots, too. Such a great look!

  11. The Express jacket is perfect on you. The proportions are spot on and I agree with Kellyann, about the belts on moto jackets. Not a fan. I'm still in search of the "perfect" boot like yours. I go through this every few years. LOL

    1. Thanks Lisa - yeah I don't think I will get any more moto jackets with belts! They look cute but really are in the way!

  12. I love that the Express jacket does not have a belt! I have a grey and black moto jacket that I always forget about. I need to pull out and wear it! I'm looking forward to your post on the scrunch boots!

    1. Now I need a black one like this! I do have one in a similar style but it has a belt. Ugh.

  13. This moto jacket looks like it was made for you Gina! I loved it in person! I'm the same way with them as you know...never too many! I honestly don't reach for my BlankNYC moto as often as I reach for my old navy jackets. Those are much more conducive to our weather! But, I got the coat from amazon that you were helping me with and the medium was too tight in the shoulders so I may just end up wearing the BlankNYC to supercross. I guess it would be appropriate LOL :) I'm going to try one of the other coats you suggested.

    1. Oh that's too bad it didn't fit. :( But the BlankNYC jacket would be a good option for Supercross!

  14. You have a smaller frame, so I like the exress one on you more! And it is probably better for your more mild weather too! Great find!

  15. I love both jackets actually and I can agree that moto jackets are a great way to dress up any outfit. I wanted to purchase the Blank NYC jacket last year but since I don't wear jackets often I didn't. I am kicking myself for it! Hehe I have been on a jumpsuit or romper kick. I just can't get enough apparently and totally know how you feel.

    1. Okay, it's so nice to hear other people had the same issue as I did with that jacket! I also regret the purchase since is just doesn't get near enough use to justify the price. :/

  16. I think it's great that you found a moto jacket that you like better--no doubt you will wear it more and I'm sure the other jacket will find a good home. I wear my tan moto jacket a ton! I can't get enough Nickel and Suede leather earrings--I want them in every color! :)

  17. I really am a lover of moto jackets too, I don't own a grey one yet though. These are both gorgeous!
