What I'm wearing: I previewed this shawl in my Amazon Hits & Misses post earlier this month and it's a piece I find myself reaching for again and again! It's comfortable and cozy enough to wear around the house with leggings, but also dresses up a basic jeans and t-shirt like I have on here:
Shawl Cardigan (c/o) | T-Shirt | Jeans | Similar Boots | Earrings | Necklace | Similar Bag (c/o Shopbop) [Budget Option]
I also think this shawl could be work in an even dressier outfit (maybe with a dress or dress pants?), so that's going to be my next styling attempt for this. It's a "One Size" piece so there's no guesswork on sizing and I do think this will fit most people. I'm 5'4," so the length will be different depending on your height. Also, it comes in 21 colors! Here are just a handful of the colors, and you can also see that the models are probably a lot taller than me because this shawl looks so much longer on me.
The color I'm wearing in the intro photo is "Grey" and it's the center image in the color collage here. From the product photo, I thought this was going to be more taupe than grey, but in real life I do think it's grey. This is my first piece in the whole shawl/poncho/ruana trend and it made me a fan.

With the outfit details out of the way, let's move on to other topics!
What I'm reminiscing about: Wicked! Over Thanksgiving break, I took my family to the touring production of Wicked. It's my favorite musical and this was my third time seeing it, but the first time taking my kids to a professional stage show. They weren't excited going into it and I was pretty worried that it would ultimately be a huge waste of money. But they ended up loving it! (Thank goodness!) We've all been reminiscing about the show and singing the songs around the house. Even if you're not a big musical theater person I think this is one that most people would enjoy.
What I'm dreading: Making returns for any Black Friday purchases that don't work out. There's nothing like dealing with a stack of items that didn't work out to make me think, "I'm never going to fall for this sale hype again!" Of course, I never seem to really learn my lesson, but it might help me fight the sale temptations through December!
What I'm working on: Making plans for Spring Break. It's over four months away but it seems like the best deals and options get booked so far in advance! I should be working on holiday cards but I'm thinking I might skip them altogether this year. I just don't feel up to the time commtiment! Do you all send out holiday cards every year?
What I'm reading: In the Unlikely Event by Judy Blume, but it's too early for me to have an opinion on this one. I had an epic reading month last month (catch my reviews and recommendations here), but this month has been slow with other commitments taking up my reading time. So it goes!
What I'm listening to: Becoming by Michelle Obama. I'm really enjoying this one so far. The reviews are outstanding for this book and now I see why.
What I'm doing this weekend: 'Tis the season to be over-committed! I have a school event Friday evening, Kids Activities, Laundry, Hair Appointment, and blog content to create on Saturday, and Girl's Brunch plus Family Time on Sunday.
What I'm looking forward to next month: I can't wait for my Blogger Family Reunion in December! Caryl and Rachelle will be visiting SoCal and will be meeting up with Noelle and me for a day that's sure to be memorable! We haven't all been together in person since this meetup in 2015!

Wow, I really like that shawl, especially since it's not a typical shawl. The color is so pretty too - not a true grey but a great neutral. Glad your boys liked Wicked. I'd love to see it - I love theater! You should check out Sneaky Pete and the new series on Bravo - Dirty John. Both are so good! We loved Ozark too! I send Christmas cards out, I did miss one year but I've already ordered my cards and they're in. I have not felt like addressing them so they are sitting in the box, lol! I'll knock it out one night.
ReplyDeleteHope your week has been great so far Gina!
xo,
Kellyann
Yes! Take a friend and go see Wicked next time it's playing near you. :) Addressing the cards is the WORST part! And thanks for the show recommendations! will definitely check those out!
DeleteThat shawl looks so cosy and I'm loving your bag! I was tempted by the Rebecca Minkoff sales for black Friday / cyber Monday but didn't treat myself to anything this time!
ReplyDeleteHope that you are having a great week so far! It's been hot and dusty here, summer has arrived! :)
Away From The Blue Blog
The Rebecca Minkoff sale was so good! I may have caved a bit. ;)
DeleteI like that shawl, and I can see how you would wear it a lot. I somehow only bought one sweater at a store for Black Friday (and the entire sale week) - as much as I am sad I missed out on all the great deals, I am not going to miss the dreaded returns. I know what you mean - they can be overwhelming! Hope you got some great deals and keepers!

I admire your shopping restraint! It saves a lot of time and frustration in the end!
DeleteI love the idea of a shawl but I know I will never wear it. I am getting Becoming asap, I have one credit left thankfully. I am seeing Aladin this weekend now I wished I booked Wicked instead, maybe next time. Cannot wait to see you next month.

Pinksole
Oh yes, next time please go see Wicked!! And Becoming is 19 hours long so you definitely get your credit worth!!
DeleteI usually send out holiday cards but last year I was so behind I ended up sending out New Years cards instead. This year I debating whether or not to send anything since we will be sending out graduation announcements in the spring. We just started season 2 of Ozark. Your shawl is really cute!
ReplyDeleteJill - Doused in Pink
I have done New Year's Cards in the past too! LOL! Usually the years I had a new baby, but this time I have no excuse. I just don't want to do it. Argh.
DeleteWicked is amazing- I get shivers just thinking about it. Glad to hear your kids loved it too.
ReplyDeleteIt is SO good. I would go way more often if I could!
DeleteThat's a great casual look. I like the tall boots with the outfit. I'll be the day out to see Wicked was much fun. I'll bet my teens would like that too, good idea.

Despite the name it's actually very PG too! :)
Deletehaha tis the season to be over committed. That basically describes December. PS love this casual look!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kay!
DeleteMorning sugar! Ya, so glad you guys are liking Ozark. I’m pumped for season 3 next year! That shawl is so so good. Think I’ll send it to Mr. Nine to get me, lol. Wicked is my favorite musical too, seen it twice but want to go again! Have a super sweet day!
ReplyDeleteHonestly I would go a couple of times per year if I could! Let me know if you start any more addictive shows!
DeleteYou always look so cute. That shawl does look totally cozy. My daughter and I saw Wicked a few years ago and it was GREAT. It was my first Broadway (and only) musical and we both loved it. I hate returns too. Did a bunch yesterday. I can't stand to have them hanging over my head! UGH.
ReplyDeleteI know!! It drives me crazy when there are things I know I don't want taking up space around the house when that money could be back in my pocket!
DeleteYou look so lovely in this outfit. I love your shawl and boots.
ReplyDeleteThank you Amy!
DeleteI love that shawl on you! It looks like such a great piece to wear on cold days. I've never seen Wicked but I know I'd love it--I've heard some of the music and it's so good. I really want to read Becoming, and good to know that it's good on audio too. (Does she read it herself???)
ReplyDeleteShe DOES read it herself! (And it's 19 hours long!!!) She's a great narrator, too.
DeleteThe shawl cardigan looks so chic! It's an elegant piece that I could see myself wearing to a family gathering! I also love the bag you paired it with here :)
ReplyDeleteI'm already making a return to LOFT, but I've been putting it off for the same reason you mentioned Gina! The malls are my least favorite chore this time of year.
And I'm so excited for the reunion! I can't even believe it's happening honestly, but I can't wait to catch up with you and the girls :)
I've been doing all of my returns via mail, which is way more convenient. BUT...sometimes they take forever to issue refunds!
DeleteBecoming by Michelle Obama is on my list! I've heard so many good things! Hopefully I get to it sometime soon! I don't typically read nonfiction, but I need to make an exception!
ReplyDeleteHonestly parts of it read like fiction! It's so surreal to imagine that life.

Why thank you. :)
DeleteYessss!!! Super excited for the meetup next month! And I’m so relieved to have decided to fly direct into SD and stay the night. Will be SOFUN!!! We finished Ozark too! It was dark for me and not something I would have normally watched... but I was already too many episodes in to back out so I rallied through to the second season. Did you ever watch Big Little Lies? That’s really good too. We just finished The Good Place which is super light and airy but entertaining!
ReplyDeleteNo holiday cards for us ever. But maybe it would get me in the holiday spirit if I did!
And the shawl looks so soft and perfect!

I did watch Big Little Lies! Impatiently awaiting for Season 2. That seems to be the problem with all the good shows lately...there are only a couple of seasons and they're over too soon! LOL!
DeleteSuch a cute look!
