Chunky Knit Sweater + Currently

|
Well once again I have experienced the mysterious case of, "when I state something on the blog, the opposite ends up being true." e.g. If I make a statement that I rarely have a reason to get dressed up, the following week I will have to get dressed up every day. This time, I stated a few weeks ago that my Thanksgiving plans were all squared away and I was proud of myself for planning in advance...but then they fell through. So I have no exact plans for Thanksgiving just yet, but I do have an outfit picked out. When I saw that The Blended Blog ladies would be sharing Thanksgiving outfit ideas this week, I decided to share this outfit anyway and talk about having no plans so that by Thanksgiving, I'll have really exciting plans! Wish me luck with this method! Ha!

This sweater is $35 (with Prime Shipping) and comes in a few other colors, but this "Khaki" color (as named by the maker, not by me) just looked so perfect for Fall. It reminded me a lot of a Free People sweater that was very popular last year, but obviously this is way more affordable. I'm wearing a Size Small here, and it's a very oversized fit. This is easily long enough to wear with leggings for me (I'm 5'4") but I chose black jeans this time for a dressier look. I recommend ordering your normal size if it's available. I don't know if you all have noticed this, but a lot of times these "off brands" will be available from numerous sellers on Amazon. I suspect there's one warehouse that makes all of the pieces then outsources them to different sellers. I usually try to find an option with Prime Shipping if possible to make for easy returns if the item doesn't work out. The seller I selected for this sweater has Prime Shipping on limited sizing options, so if you don't see your size you can still get this exact sweater from this seller or this one with more size/color options. Just expect shipping time to be closer to two weeks.
Sweater (c/o) | Black Jeans | Earrings | Similar Booties [Budget Option] | Crossbody Bag (c/o) [Budget Option]

As far as other pieces I'm wearing here, my black jeans are true to size (I take the short length at 5'4"). My leopard ankle boots are a few years old from Macy's. I feel like leopard shoes/leopard anything was trending strong from 2013-15, then it kind of faded a bit in 2016-17, but now it's back in a big way this fall. Did you all notice a similar timeline with this print? Anyway, even though mine are old there are lots of similar options out now. This pair is the most visually similar I found, though they are a bit pricey so for a budget option you could try this pair for under $50.
On the first Wednesday of every month I love joining up with Anne for her "Currently" link-up. She provides the creative variety of topics and the participants provide the answers! This month we're all sharing what we're currently appreciating, researching, posting, getting, and cooking.

Appreciating...family, friendships, health and employment. It's simple, but keeping my focus on appreciating what I have in those areas vs. what I don't in any number of other areas is key to my happiness. They're also the easiest to take for granted until something happens to one of them to force you to realize how good you once had it!

Researching...all of the ballot measures for the election yesterday. Yikes, the wording on those is so confusing. I swear I needed Cliffs Notes or Ballot Measures for Dummies!

Posting...to the blog M/W/F as usual but no longer posting to Instagram (I gave a little more explanation to this in the comment section below if you're interested). However, if you have the LiketoKnow.it App, I'm still posting my everyday outfits there. And if you don't have the app, you can get the exact same details here on the blog. Just go to Daily Looks on the Menu Bar up top (or tap the three Horizontal Lines under my blog name banner if you're on a mobile device) and click any outfit for details. Most of the outfits that I post there end up in my Everyday Outfit recap on Fridays.

Getting...writer's block on this prompt! I typed and deleted about ten different options here because none of them seemed interesting enough to share.

Cooking...eggs for breakfast most days of the week. Lately I've been doing egg whites with goat cheese, sliced Kalamata olives, and Everything but the Bagel Seasoning from Trader Joe's (with a piece of wheat toast on the side). I don't know if that's a weird combination of ingredients to other people but I like it! And if you're wondering, I'm not opposed to egg yolks, I just don't like them with goat cheese (or feta) because I think they overpower the flavor. No photo of this dish because it tastes much better than it looks!

See you on Friday for some everyday outfits and more!

  1. I'm so interested to hear why you've decided to ditch instagram Gina. Is it an emotional decision or a time/value one? Your tunic jumper is a gorgeous colour xx Maria

    1. Hey Maria! Sorry, I've talked about Instagram in a lot of past posts but should have included an explanation or link to one here! There were a few main reasons I let it go, but my choice was heavily influenced by a number of books I've read on the topic. Either books about Facebook (the company that owns Instagram) and some of its unethical practices, or about the negative effects of the internet and social media in particular. A few books I read include: Addicted by Adam Alter, Ten Arguments for Deleting your Social Media Accounts, The Shallows: What the Internet is Doing to Our Brains, How to Break up with Your Phone, The Four.

  2. The color of that sweater is so pretty and perfect with the leopard booties. I'd like a pair of leopard booties and a pair of white ones, although I really don't NEED either! No matter how you end up spending Thanksgiving you'll look great! Our plans are up in the air - we know we'll be with my family but how and where remain a mystery. It all depends on my dad. Your egg breakfast sounds good - I eat eggs every day and they really are the most satisfying breakfast for me!

    1. Ha, if you get leopard booties I assure you, you will end up getting good use out of them! (Not as sure about white - I bought a pair and returned them but everyone's different!)

  3. LOVE that sweater, I have on mustard, black and a pop of leopard on todays blog too. Wish I'd had the killer boots. You look adorable! You are so very right about appreciating those things/people closest and most important to us. I too love egg whites especially with the soft, more potent cheeses. I'd totally love your breakfast! I hope you have a super day!

  5. Your tunic sweater is perfect, I want one for NY but I think I have an old one that might work. I just need to try it on. Not caring or posting on IG has been a blessing, now I can read even more. I still post to LTK too for those who care. I have thanksgiving plans but I will probably be in shorts or leggings lol.

    1. Yeah, there are maybe ten people who still see my posts on LTK? It's fine. I am happier this way. :)

  6. I am loving your outfit! Those booties are so much fun. I love that the heel is black instead of all leopard. I hope you end up with fabulous Thanksgiving plans after the universe has gone and teased you some. I will be working at the mall on Thanksgiving, so my plans are set! Ah, the joys of working retail.

  10. Such a cozy chic outfit for Thanksgiving, loving the pop of leopard! I noticed I hadn't seen you in a while on Insta, and I seriously need to join you. I'm SO over the ridiculousness of it all and the rapidly declining engagement and lack of organic growth.

  12. Wow! You look amazing in this outfit. I love all the color. The sweater and those booties go great together. I so agree with you about the wording of the ballot measures. They are confusing. My daughter and I were just talking about that yesterday. I wonder how many voters for yes or no when they didn't mean to?

    1. Right?! I wonder the same thing! I am sure measures have been unintentionally passed for that very reason.

  13. That sweater looks great! I like it. I definitely agree about the Ballot Measures for Dummies. It can be difficult wording within the measures, and I know for sure it can confuse me! I'm not a highly political person, but at least make sure we can read and understand what we're voting for! LOL

    1. Right? Some of them are "Vote Yes if you DON'T want XYZ to happen." Why are we making this so difficult?! LOL.

  15. Ooh what a great Amazon find! I love the texture and the color. And you're inspiring me to up my egg game! I was eating eggs for breakfast a lot but then got bored with them...that sounds way yummier than my standard scrambled eggs :)

  16. That breakfast sounds SO good! I love eggs and goat cheese and kalamata olives... so together they can't be bad!! I love that sweater, it does look so cozy!! The leopard boots are really fun too, I'm going to go check out your affordable option. Good luck with the Thanksgiving plans!

  17. This outfit is perfection Gina! It's gotta be one of my all-time favorites, and that says a lot because I love them all! Camel is such a beautiful color on everyone, I'm convinced. And I hear you on needing Cliffs notes for the ballot measures yesterday! Why do they word things so awkwardly? Anyways, I hope you figure out Thanksgiving! We are celebrating the week after so I think Nate and I are just going to relax and cruise the beach ;)
