Everyday Outfits + Weekend Sales

|
Hello friends and happy Saturday! We are in recovery mode over here from various ailments so we're just taking it easy so far. I wanted to play catch up on a few outfits and share some weekend sale news from a few favorite, budget-friendly retailers.

Striped Pullover, Leggings:

I usually avoid hoodies (I just don't need the extra fabric in the back and I really never wear a hoodie on my head!) but I thought this was cute and the reviews were so good, so I decided to break my "rule" - and I'm glad I did! The reviewers were not kidding when they said once you try this fabric you will want to buy all of the pieces made with this. It's called "supersoft terry," but in regular terms it's either a thin sweatshirt material or a thick, very soft t-shirt. I wore this yesterday when I was home almost all day taking care of my youngest (he got stitches on Thursday night and was too swollen and sore to go to school). I was decent enough for a quick run to the pharmacy and some carryout, but comfortable enough around the house that I felt like I was in pajamas all day. Suffice it to say I love this top and would love to own another color, too. I'm 5'4" and wearing a Small here. The model on the site is 5'9" and was also wearing a Small. I think you can order your normal size or go one up depending on how fitted or relaxed you want this to be.

Olive Cropped Cardigan, Jeans:

I'm wearing an XS in this olive cropped cardigan, and I'd say it runs pretty true to size with a somewhat relaxed fit. This is a perfect Spring/Summer cardigan and I liked that it was cropped for some variety from a lot of the longline cardigans I have. It is a bit pricey but J. Crew does run pretty frequent sales which will bring it back down to the under $50 range. It is a really nice piece though...definitely higher quality than a Target cardigan so you do getting quality for the extra cost. All other pieces here ran true to size.

Gray Blazer, Jeans:
Express Blazer (Similar with more Sizes) | Black Tank | Belt | Necklace |  Black Pumps | Bracelet

All details for this outfit are in this post, but I try to share the selfie version as well since many prefer this photo format. My exact blazer is almost sold out, but I linked a similar option above along with a couple of other options in the original post. All other pieces ran true to size.

Weekend Sales:
Here are a few good sales to note this weekend if you're looking for some bargains as you build your Spring wardrobe.

EXPRESS: 40% off all Portofino Shirts and Rolled Sleeve Tees. These are both great staples, and the sale takes solid colored Portofino shirts down to under $30 (regular $50). A lot of dresses are also included in the 40% off sale, both casual and office-friendly styles. For outfit ideas with Portofino shirts go to the menu bar up top and select Categories > Portofino Shirts.

TARGET: BOGO 50% off several categories including Shoes (my favorite), Dresses and Swim.
I have these perforated ankle boots (I recommend going a half size down) but these designer dupe espadrilles and peep toe booties are popular on Instagram as well.

ABERCROMBIE: Code 11298 gets you 10% off $75, 20% off $100, and 30% off $150. I have and love several of their t-shirts and their jeans. I like the Harper Skinny Low Rise...even though I don't think they are "low rise." More like Mid-Rise.

AMERICAN EAGLE: Code WEEKENDWIN gets you $10 off $50, $25 off $100, and $40 off $150. I've been doing a bit more browsing there lately. Their shorts get great reviews and seem very popular with bloggers, and the midi length is a great option for those who want our shorts not-too-short. If you need some shorts for a Spring Break getaway or are just planning ahead for summer, it's definitely worth checking out their options. Also, if you have a ShopRunner account you get 2-Day Shipping. (ShopRunner is like Amazon Prime for a bunch of different retailers including Express, Ann Taylor and American Eagle)

Thanks for reading and see you on Monday!

  1. I am loving that hoodie! I seem to be buying all the cute, athleisure type items lately. This one is a great length to wear with leggings too!

    1. Thanks Laura! It really is fantastic and I can't recommend it enough. I don't have a ton of athleisure pieces because I don't feel the most like myself in them, but they do serve a good purpose for days like we had this week!

  2. Hi! I'm curious if you are able to button that blazer. I purchased a blazer at Express this weekend, and I even sized up, but I can still barely button it. Otherwise, it fits great through the shoulders and across the back. But I feel like I should be able to button it. Right now I'm planning to take it back, but wondering about yours. Thanks!

    1. Hi Christine! No, I really cannot wear this blazer buttoned up. Technically I can button it, but it doesn’t look right and would certainly come undone if I tried to move my arms at all. ;) Since I only wear it casually and don’t need to button it, I didn’t mind that it can’t be buttoned since it fits how I wanted otherwise (especially through the waist. My main priority was a defined waist). If I did need/want to button I would definitely have to go up a size or two. For your case it probably just depends on if you think you’ll have a need or reason to wear it buttoned at some point?
