Cozy Cardigan + Black Friday Begins

|
I love a good cozy cardigan, but I recently added cardigans to my No Buy list because I just don't have room for anymore in my closet unless I get rid of some! Yet I haven't been willing to part with any because we're just starting to get some cooler weather that's allowing me to bring out a few of my favorites from last year and decide which ones I'm still really going to use. This sweater coat (a.k.a. thick and warm cardigan) is one of my favorites that's really cozy and a definite keeper this year.

This cardigan is just under $50, which is just a little more expensive than the budget options I often share, but in this case you're getting much higher quality for the price. And you're getting Prime Shipping (no waiting for two weeks like some of my other choices!) so if you want it in a hurry for a holiday gathering this weekend, you can still make that happen. I'm wearing a Small in this, and it fits well but this brand runs small in general. I usually wear an XS in cardigans at Express and this fits pretty similar to an XS there. I wore this quite a lot last winter, e.g. click here to see how I wore it back in January.

Whenever I decide to clean out my closet and get rid of things, it's pretty rare that I have any regrets about my choices. But one thing I did regret getting rid of is my black Barcelona Cami. I kept my white one (and still use it regularly) and I cannot for the life of my figure what thought process I had when getting rid of the black one! Black and white are my staples when it comes to basic layers! For awhile Barcelona camis were completely discontinued from the Express website, but now they have a few colors and options available. But...not basic black and white. At first I tried the Reversible Black Floral Print option, but I didn't think it was truly reversible. I could see the flowers through it when I tried to wear the black side, especially at the v-neck line. So back it went and I got this satin button front version instead. I was thinking the satin would be too dressy and the buttons would be in the way, but actually quite like both details about it. The satin doesn't look too shiny in person, which is just fine for my needs. Plus, these days if I'm wearing a cami like this it's with the intention of dressing up an outfit a notch since it takes the place of a knit tank or cami. And the buttons don't go all the way down, so they don't hit the waist in an awkward place or anything. I did get an XS in this and it seems to run a tiny bit bigger than my previous Barcelona camis, but not quite enough to justify sizing down. At any rate, this is a very long way of saying I'm glad I was able to replace my regrettably donated piece with this one!

*My exact handbag is out of stock as of the date I'm publishing this post, but it has sold out and been restocked in the past so I am keeping the link for future reference. Plus, you'll see some similar options from the same brand through the link if you're interested in this style.

Is it just me or are we heading to a point where all of November is becoming "Black Friday?" A lot of retailers have started their sales already, and while I won't have the most epic round up ever, it would be a shame not to mention a few of the pieces I'm wearing in today's post that are on major sale plus some other recent favorites.

From today's outfit:
My black cami is on sale for 50% off along with everything else at Express!
My belt is 40% off, though only one size left so it will probably go quickly!
- Here is the same color belt (also from Ann Taylor) in a slightly different style with more sizes.
- My handbag is currently sold out, but you can shop similar bags from See by Chloe on sale at Shopbop. For my other suggestions on that sale see Wednesday's post.

Other Recent Outfits with Items on Sale for Black Friday:
My olive jeans from this post are 40% off. I'm wearing the Modern Fit and they're true to size.

And my Sailor Pants from this post are also 40% off! They were sold out but have been fully restocked again.

All of these have been really solid purchases with no regrets for me so I definitely recommend them if you're interested. And the only thing better than a great purchase is one that you got on a Black Friday sale!

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving tomorrow and I'll see you back on Friday as usual!

  1. There are so many sales! I was surprised they started already, but good for getting Christmas shopping out of the way early I think! :) I like your cosy cardi :) I'm wary of adding too many to my wardrobe as there aren't a lot of cold months here, but they are so easy to keep buying as they go with so much, haha!

Thank you for the link up!

Hope that you are having a nice week so far :)

  2. Don't ya just hate it when you get rid of something you actually need? It's happened a few times to me. I have the Top Shop white cami that sells out all the time. I should have purchased it in black years ago and of course now I can't find it. I need a cami with a little more coverage in the strap area if that makes sense so finding one I like is tricky! It just occurred to me to try Poshmark!
Anyhow, I really love that camel cardi, it looks terrific with the sailor pants. I do need to get rid of a few cardigans that have seen better days!
    Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Gina!

  3. Gina, I am loving your cardigans! This is my daily go-to outfit formula this time of year. A tee or cami under a cardi with jeans. You look spectacular, as always! And now you need to check out the Black Friday sales to replace your black cami. Wishing you a very Happy Thanksgiving and a safe Black Friday!

  13. I have done that and kicked myself for it! I hope you find another fabulous replacement and yes it is a bit crazy that retailers have started Black Friday sales early. In a way an early head start to Christmas shopping but on the other hand, it does take away from the experience! I hope you are having a wonderful day so far and wishing you and your family a happy Thanksgiving!
