Tie Front Top + Mother's Day Wishlist

|
As much as I like to have a lot of classic staples in my wardrobe, it's fun to have a few trendier items to mix in with those classics each season. Tie-front tops and dresses are a big trend this Spring, and this Express striped tie-front top looked like it could be dressed up, down or in between so I thought it would be a good fit for my wardrobe and lifestyle.

Many of the reviews for this top said to go up one size, so I tried it in person before ordering since I wanted to get the right size in one go. For me, one size up was too big. It hung too low and loose around my chest. So I took the XS in this which is my usual size in Express tops. Your body type and fit preferences may vary, but I didn't find it to run big. My jeans are older from Express but this pair is on sale for $41 has similar ripped knees.

I first saw these Target shoes in store and while I liked the neutral color and styling, I didn't think they looked comfortable. But then I saw them again online and the reviews were so good! All of them were 5/5 stars at that time. I decided to give them a chance and I'm so glad I did! They're true to size and they really are comfortable and stay on my feet well while walking. This past weekend I wore this outfit to take my kids to their activities, run a couple of errands, and then grab lunch and snap a few blog pictures (of course) on the way home. The shoes were great for all of the typical Saturday stuff we do. Later that day we went with some friends to a Cinco de Mayo Festival at Liberty Public Market  (a popular spot for tourists and locals) so I switched to flat sandals since the festival was out in a grassy plaza area. I was surprised how many girls were wearing wedge or block heels like these for the event! That would have made me miserable and probably resulted in a sprained ankle by the end of the day. So yes, these shoes are very comfortable for a lot of activities, but not all activities!

Mother's Day Wishlist
If you haven't heard, Mother's Day is coming up on Sunday. I've already got my Mom's gift squared away and I shared some of my favorite sentimental gifts to give (i.e. great for moms), so now I'm daydreaming about my own wishlist! Mother's Day is one of my favorite excuses to justify a splurge on something a little impractical. From high end cosmetics to a Kendra Scott necklace I don't exactly need, it's all fair game!

1. Tory Burch Handbags (Medium Moto): I'm a big fan of moto details on just about anything, so I'm loving this Medium Moto bag. The lighter neutral colors would also be great for Spring/Summer, plus this crossbody size looks perfect for me.

2. Ray Ban Sunglasses (Matte Classic Aviator Sunglasses) On my sunglasses post last week a couple of people mentioned their love for Ray Bans. I do like the look of their classic aviators but this is something I'd definitely have to try in person to get a proper fit, unlike most of the other items.

3. Tory Burch Miller Sandals (Black Patent) I really do love the Sand Patent pair I have and reach for them a lot when I'm running out the door for school pick up/drop off, etc. And I like the way they complete casual outfits with a little more polish than basic flip flops. I could easily put a black pair to good use.

4. Kendra Scott Necklace (Kacey) I have zero needs for any more necklaces in my collection, but Kendra Scott just makes such pretty pieces I will always accept them as gifts! Ha! I also love the adjustable slider that several necklace styles (including this one) have now. I can get twice as much use out of them since they can be worn long or short.

5. Kate Spade Handbags (Canvas Sam Tote) This bag is actually pretty reasonably priced for a Kate Spade Bag ($158) and the nautical stripes are so cute! This would be another fun one for Spring/Summer and probably holds a bit more than the Tory Burch option above.

6. YSL Rouge Volupté (Pink in Confidence) I've heard so many bloggers rave about these lipsticks and I love the pretty packaging. They're $37 which is steep for a lipstick, but not an outrageous price for a Mother's Day Gift if you ask me!

Well that was fun to put together! If you're considering any of these as Mother's Day gifts for your Mom or yourself, all of them except the lipstick have 2-Day shipping options. Everything from Shopbop can be ordered through your Amazon Prime account, and Kendra Scott has a 2-Day shipping offer through tonight only.

  7. That tie-front top is so fun! I just found a tie-front top that I love too and I think it's such a unique detail! When I click the links for your shoes it is taking me to bracelets instead... just wanted to let you know! I LOVE those shoes and I'm trying to decide between picking up a pair of neutral wedges or mule-style like those. Glad to hear that those are comfy!

  8. You have some great items on your Mother's Day wishlist! I would take any of them as a gift! I think you are right, Mother's Day is one of those times you can ask for something a little extravagant that you wouldn't purchase for yourself!

  11. I love hearing about Target shoes that are a win. You never know with them if they're going to be terribly uncomfortable. The color is spot on neutral with your skin tone too, they're perfect!
