Brand Name vs Budget Sunglasses

|
I recently had a request to share some Designer Inspired sunglasses or just some on-trend options for sunglasses in general. Shopbop is having a 40% off sale that includes some top brands of sunglasses, so if you're looking to splurge on a designer pair, you might find just the right pair on sale. The specific styles in the first graphic are part of the current 40% promotion, but I've linked to some of the blogger-favorite brands below the graphic since exact items often sell out during sales. If you're on the hunt for a budget pair, scroll down for some designer-inspired options and my tips on how to find them on Amazon.
1. Karen Walker Sunglasses Super Duper
2. Dolce & Gabbana Top Fluted
3. Prada Sunglasses Oversized Square
4. Versace Sunglasses Cat Eye
5. Quay Sunglasses All My Love
6. YSL Sunglasses SL1 Mineral Glass Combi

If you're looking for a more budget-friendly pair, I've found lots of designer dupes and designer inspired versions on Amazon, more than I can possibly fit in one post. Here are a few options, including many that are similar to the designer versions above.
Karen Walker Inspired: Left | Right (Another option here, Dupe for "Number One" style here)
Saint Laurent Inspired: Left | Right (Another similar option here
Quay Inspired: Left | Right (Similar look with Aviator Frames)
Versace + D&G Inspired: Left | Right
Prada + Gucci Inspired: Left | Right (Original Gucci pair here)

These options are just the tip of the iceberg of what's available on Amazon, and I noticed after the fact that I didn't even include any aviator styles, probably showing my own bias since that style doesn't flatter me very well.

I occasionally get asked, "How do you find things on Amazon?" I did a more detailed post about this in June of 2017, and my main strategies are still pretty much the same! Amazon has an algorithm, so the more you shop there and they learn your clicking, saving and purchasing habits, the better recommendations you get. I find maybe 75% of things I share through those recommendations rather than searches. All that is to say if you don't see exactly what you're looking for in these collages, I would start by clicking whatever looks closest to your style, then see what Amazon recommends and click the next best option from there, etc. You can spend a lot of time browsing this way and never get to the end of the rabbit hole, so to speak!

Brands to Browse
If you want to get started browsing on some of the products that came up for me in preparing this post, here are a few of the lines(some of which didn't end up making the collage since) that came up with "designer looking" sunglasses, even if they weren't an exact match for a particular brand/style that I know:

Prive Riveaux (lots of aviator styles)
ZeroUV (lots of cat eye/Karen Walker-esque styles)
LianSan
Sojos
Feisedy
Leckirut
GrinderPunch
ATTCL
Donna
Duco
Vivien Feng
Royal Girl (Very blingy styles including the Gucci-inspired pair above)

If you have a favorite brand of sunglasses (brand name or budget) let me know in the comments below. I've personally always like the Karen Walker Super Dupers but haven't taken the plunge since I wear prescription sunglasses 99% of the time. I'm not sure sunglasses are a category that's worth splurging on for me just yet, but I change my mind on things all the time so you never know!

  1. I wear sunglasses all the time, for years I've always worn inexpensive ones. Now, because my eyesight is getting so bad I have to wear prescription, ugh! I still enjoy my inexpensive ones though and keep them all over just in case. Good job finding all of these Gina!!

    1. Thanks Kellyann! I hear you on the vision and prescription issues. It's a hassle but I try not to worry about it too much since I can't change it! :(

  2. I've bought those Karen Walker dupes off of Amazon a few times in different colors and they're really good glasses. I have one nice pair of sunglasses, but it's nice to have several that I can toss in my purse and not panic when my kids start playing with them. I just now saw they have them in white. I may have to purchase another pair.

    1. Oh that's great to hear that the quality is decent! It's hit or miss sometimes with these things. The Karen Walker style is my favorite too so I might get a pair for the occasions when I actually do wear contacts!

  3. I sold most of my designer Sunglasses and only wear my classic Ray Bans and I love it. I should get rid of my Quay sunnies too.

  4. Thanks for sharing! Sunglasses are an essential here year-round! I used to have quite a collection of them, but lately I've been sticking with my RayBans. I splurged and got the polarised pair so I could wear them for driving, and so I rarely wear anything else!

Hope you are having a great week :) I'm enjoying our cooler autumn weather, it's a lovely change from the heat we've had this year!

  6. I have worn the exact same style of sunglasses for years now! Seriously though, it’s a problem! I’m so picky with them and I never like any more than I do the ones I have. Problem is, they are so scratched! I really need a new pair ;)

    1. I hear you...I don't really like to try new styles of sunglasses either. I just can't get used to how they look on my face!

  7. I definitely prefer budget to expensive sunglasses, but I want to invest in a pair just to treat myself! http://mariannyc.com/2018/04/30/may-goals/

  8. I love sunglasses! It's the perfect accessory aside from handbag in my opinion! I do like both budget and high end brands, it really just depends on fit and style. My face is super small and most glasses these days are huge so I haven't actually been inclined to purchase any because of this problem. I keep looking anyhow because I am sure there is a gem out there!
