Spring Wishlist + Recent Purchases

|
Hey friends! I am off on Spring Break this week with my family but have a couple of posts scheduled in my absence since I tend to be a little Type A about maintaining the blogging schedule. This year I've been working on being more disciplined about creating a shopping wishlist and sticking to that rather than buying things on impulse because they're on sale and look cute in a stock photo or on someone else on Instagram. There are a few key pieces I want to add to my Spring Wardrobe that I think will fit right in with my existing wardrobe and get plenty of use. I took advantage of Easter sales earlier this month to order a few of these, but here's what I have in mind for some Spring wardrobe updates.

1. Striped Cardigan: I have this cardigan in Olive (shown here and here) and it's the perfect weight for Spring/Summer. I like the cropped length for variety from what I already own, and this striped version is just so cute. I did end up ordering this over Easter weekend and can't wait to get it, although J. Crew shipping usually takes an eternity for me so I'm not holding my breath.

2. Henley Tanks: I think henley tops are pretty classic, but they seem to be enjoying some renewed popularity this year, and I like the idea of layering with a henley tank instead of a plain one. I tried the Abercrombie version and they were too cropped on me, so I'd like to try this under $20 option next. Update: After I put this post together, I ordered the tank pictured during the Easter sales. Unfortunately it's just as cropped on me as the Abercrombie henley tanks. I also ordered these henley tanks to try, and they're perfect! I took a Small and they're fitted (but not too tight) and not cropped at all. Eventually I'll get some outfits posted with them, but so far my only "complaint" is that they don't come in basic black and white!

3. Pink Jacket: Based on the reviews, I'm not sure I'll get this exact jacket since the quality doesn't sound great for the price. But I do like the style and I think a casual pink jacket would be a fun layering option with all of the black, white, and gray I already own. I regret not getting this Old Navy jacket while it was still in stock in my size!

4. Tory Burch Miller Sandals: These are a definite splurge, but they're really grown on me after seeing them on other bloggers the past few summers. Funny, I don't see them very often in real life! I'm not sure how I'll like them on my feet since I'm picky about that, but I do want to try them and I'm sure I would get plenty of use out of a neutral color.

5. White Distressed Jeans: White jeans are Spring staple, but I don't have a distressed version that I like right now. Express has a few options, but this Abercrombie pair looks a little closer to what I think will work for me.

6. See by Chloe Bags: I'd love a good cognac crossbody for Spring/Summer since I tend to wear more of those warmer shades that coordinate well with it during the Spring/Summer. I really love this designer option, but I did find some good dupes for it in last month's designer-inspired bags post.

Do you all have your Spring wishlist organized? One thing that's missing from my list is a straw handbag! They're all the rage and I was really sure I wanted one this year...but now I'm not so set on the idea. I think they look really cute with sundresses, rompers and that sort of thing, but I rarely (if ever) wear those styles, so how often would I really use that style of bag? I took it off my wishlist for now, but who knows. My opinion might change again by summer!

  2. Interested to see what you think about the Miller sandals! And I need a good pair of distressed white skinnies too! The pair I have is great but it’s more boyfriend fit than skinny, and I want a skinny, too! Your trip looks amazing so far! Hope it’s even more amazing than it looks!

    1. It seems like you see a LOT more designer items in Miami than I do! If I go to tourist areas I see more designer stuff than just the average suburban population here. :)

  5. I think you are right about the henley tanks - they are nicer than a standard tank, I need to try them out. You and I can be the regret sisters as far as that ON field jacket goes in pink - I should have ordered it too - ugh!!! I love seeing the TB Miller sandals and I know several people who own them and love them, but my feet are not pretty AT ALL so while I used to be tempted to get them I realize they aren't for me. They are a classic though and will go with everything so I think you would be very happy with your purchase!
Hope you have a fabulous Spring Break Gina!

    1. Funny you say that about feet...blogging has definitely made me more self-conscious in that area, unfortunately. There are some styles of Spring shoes I know are just not going to be flattering on mine as well. Oh well.

  6. These are all great, versatile pieces! I've had those sandals on my radar for a year or two as well. I like how they look and heard they last forever, but I don't know if they will fit me well or if I will like how they look on me. And then there is the price...

    1. Well I will definitely feel better about the price if they last me as long as some of my other sandals (e.g. Sam Edelman Gigi!)

  7. Love your picks! That jacket is on my wishlist too! I wear jackets year round and this one looks perfect for Summer. I hope you have a fabulous spring break! I’m jealous!

    1. Oh, let me know if you get the jacket! I do like it, just not not sure it's "the one."

  8. I put some miller sandals in my Nordstrom cart months ago...last weekend my momma was at my house and after I did her taxes (which literally take me 10 minutes) she told me she would buy me something...I was like SOLD! She only paid for half but I felt alot less guilty haha. I got this color you are showing and I love them!

  9. I'm interested in your thoughts on the Miller sandals as well. I never see them in real life either...honestly, I don't think most non-blogger people could afford them or find them to be a reasonable purchase (sorry if that is tacky). I actually just got some fabulous dupes from Cato called the "medallion flip flop" in tan, black, and white - adore them!

    1. "medallion thong sandal" - my mistake!

    2. Thanks for the tip on the Cato Sandals! I have looked high and low for a style similar to the Miller and haven’t found anything nearly as close as those. We don’t have that store here, but if you happen to see this reply let me (and anyone else reading!) if they ran true to size for you!

    3. Same here - I have never found any similar either! I about died when I saw those (I bought tan in store and then ordered the black and white online...I actually PAID for shipping so that tells you how much I liked them, lol). They seem like nice quality to me, especially for the price, but of course I can't say how they compare to the Miller and how long they will hold up. The only issue someone may have is the metal medallion might hit your foot wrong just depending on the foot. They are fine for me but just could be an issue. For me they were true to size if you go up half; they only come in whole sizes and I am normally a 7.5 and the 8 was perfect for me. I will send you an email with pics!

  10. These are all great options! I've been toying with the idea of creating a list like this since I think it helps reduce impulse purchases. I hope you are having fun on vacation!

    1. It really does help me reduce my impulse purchases! I'm trying to be a lot more mindful about it this year.

  11. I have the Tory Burch sandals that I found at a consignment store for $70 maybe four years ago. I do reach for them often and they are well made. I wouldn’t say they are super comfortable for tons of walking, though. Have you tried American Eagle jeans? I have white distressed in a “cool” summer weight material. They are perfect and I have worn the heck out of them. I find that AE has great jeans and I order online to get short and order several different styles and return to store what I don’t like.
    Great wish list!

    1. I have not tried AE jeans yet! I just started shopping there recently (e.g. this Henley tank and a long sleeve camo tee from winter). I really like the look of their shorts, too. So it’s probably just a matter of time before I try their jeans!
