Gray Striped Sweater + Monday Motivation

|
I'm just going to warn you right now that I've been a little stripe-obsessed lately, so don't be surprised if you see quite a lot of them in my outfit posts for the next few weeks. Spending more time on Pinterest lately made me realize I was pinning a lot of outfits with stripes but didn't have a lot of them
to wear. So of course, I decided to remedy that ASAP with pieces like this gray and white striped version that's the perfect weight for Spring.

I'm wearing a Small in this sweater and it does runs true to size. The Small is sold out in the Prime shipping option, but another vendor has the same sweater here with additional sizes and colors. I had to wear a cami under this for warmth (I think it was in the upper 60s/low 70s that day) so it's pretty thin, which suits me fine for a Spring sweater. The fabric is soft and not itchy at all.

My earrings are the Kendra Scott Alice Earrings I picked up with my birthday discount (50% off any one item in store during the month of your birthday) back in January . I was originally thinking they would be "date night" earrings, but then I changed my mind and decided life is too short. I like them too much to save them for special occasions. So far no one has said, "Hey lady, your earrings are too fancy for daytime." And if they're thinking that, and not saying it, ignorance is bliss! This style sold out pretty quickly at most retailers, but I did find it here in the Rose Gold option. This newer style is similar with all three metal options available.

I need to do round-up of outfits I've worn with black jeans since they are my favorite lately. This pair runs true to size, and at 5'4" the short length works best for me.

I wouldn't say that studded buckle boots are the first thing that come to mind when I think "Spring Shoes," but they were practical for a day when it had been raining off and on and I had to do a bit of trekking around a golf course for my kids lessons. If not for all that I think this outfit would have gone well with a wedge sandal or a peep toe ankle boot. Plus, I kind of forgot I had these and felt badly about not wearing them for awhile! I took a half size down in these boots, and there's only one size left in them. If that's not your size and you're looking for a similar pair, I rounded up a few more options below.

Monday Motivation: Q1 Check-In
At the beginning of the year, I set four areas of values that I wanted to focus on this year, rather than having typical New Year's Resolutions (original post here). Lately I feel like I'm just trying to keep up on life more than working toward specific goals. It doesn't feel especially great or rewarding, but what can you do? I use this space to keep myself accountable, so today I thought I'd do a quick check in on my original plan for 2018 with my best and worst categories.

Best: Time Management. Surprisingly, I feel better about this one than I have in awhile. One of my main objectives was to manage smartphone time and cut back on social media use (especially Instagram) and while it hasn't been easy, I have cut way back and it's been amazing how much else I can get done with that time. That's not to say I have it all mastered, but I do feel like I'm heading in the right direction.

Worst: Personal Growth. 2018 just has not been my year for this. I don't feel like I've learned any new skills or even taken steps toward accomplishing something along those lines. There are quite a few things on the blog front that I'd like to learn and improve, and I have put some time into trying to educate myself, but this is one area where I feel pretty "slow" compared to my peers and it's discouraging. I don't want to be a downer here but I also don't want to only talk about things that are going well and give the false impression that everything I attempt is positive and successful all the time.

As for my other two categories, Relationships and Health & Fitness, they're somewhere in between these two, but more on the positive side than the negative. That's where things stand for me at the moment, but what about you all? Are you working towards goals you made at the New Year? And if you're not a "resolution" person, do you have other methods of goal setting or is it just all too much? Let me know how 2018 is treating you so far!

  1. Love your look today! I have always been a lover of stripes! I love how your new year resolutions aren’t your regular typical ones! Time management is a great one. I feel like people spend way to much time on their phones anymore and obvious social media is to blame. I try not to be on my phone as much as well!

Hope you have a great day!

    1. It definitely takes a lot of conscious effort to keep the phone time in check these days! They're such useful but addictive devices.

  2. Love your striped top of course, me I feel like I need to not buy any for a while. I have so many striped tops. Goals are so tricky, I would say I'm in the middle. I have good and bad weeks and I'm learning to not beat myself up about that. You have 2 kids and a busy life, so you can only do your best.

    1. For what it's worth I'm not beating myself up for the most part - just kind of trying not to let a bad week or two turn into completely giving up on my goals!

  3. Your striped sweater is perfect for Spring! I love lightweight sweaters, they're really the most practical for my climate. Your studded boots make perfect sense to me and look great with the outfit. I love your hair extensions too!
I am going to start getting myself organized with monthly goals. Writing them down makes them real so I need to get them outta my head and onto paper. It's good to be accountable and real.
    Happy Monday Gina!

    1. Thanks Kellyann! With the wind and weather here I end up spending way too much time fussing over a hairstyle that's not going to last beyond my front door, so extensions have been a nice sanity saver. :) Writing down my goals has been key for me! Hope it helps you as well!

  5. I don't make yearly resolutions, but I do have goals for myself throughout the year. I always wish I had a little more time to dedicate to blogging and becoming better at it and growing my blog, but it just never happens. I hope when my kids are a little older I might have the opportunity to do that, but I try not to let it bother me now. Recently my goal is to try and get back to running. I need to start scheduling gym time each week and sign myself up for a 5 or 6K!

  7. This is such a cute look! I love black jeans lately and yours paired with those ankle boots are chic! I’ve been enjoying the rainy weather and am hoping for more, but it’s probably over. As for goals, the simple fact you’re still holding yourself accountable is excellent! I feel like I’m right there with you - just trying to get by some days!

    1. Thanks so much, Noelle! I really didn't mind the rain this year either. It wasn't bad at all. :)

  8. Keep on blogging! I've found some years or months are bad and some are good, some I feel things happen by chance at this point.....I love stripes so much and I totally think that mixing it up with different colors is key to keep your closet versatile!

  10. I am a fellow stripe addict and can't seem to stop acquiring new stripey things. They just always work, right? I feel the same way about learning new things when it comes to blogging, and it makes me feel better to know that you--a blogger who I really admire--also struggle with that. I love the creative side of blogging: writing, coming up with ideas for posts, creating content, but the technical and marketing sides are a real struggle for me.
