Khaki Moto Jacket, Currently + Linkup

|
So how is everyone's week going so far? I had a dentist appointment yesterday with a new dentist, and I always dread filling out the paperwork on the first visit. I'm on my fourth dentist in as many years in San Diego! One change was due to insurance changes (no, I'm not loyal enough to pay for services out of pocket if a dentist doesn't accept our insurance) and two changes others have been due to my frustrations with service. I don't know if I'm picky or just unlucky, because I seem to be the only person who changes dentists so much! At any rate, here's an outfit from last weekend with a jacket that I didn't really need to wear given the unseasonably warm recent weather here, but the outfit just didn't look complete without it!
Jacket (c/o) | Similar V Neck Tee | Jeans | Bar III Leopard Boots (Similar) | Necklace | Earrings

I was going to call this jacket tan or light camel or some other color name, but since the product color says Khaki I went with that. I'm wearing a Small in this so it's true to size for SheIn...usually I take one size bigger there than what I wear in jackets at Express, Gap or LOFT. Unfortunately the Small is sold out in this already at SheIn, but I am almost certain this is the exact jacket on Amazon still available in Small (and all sizes). It costs just a bit more there than at SheIn, but it does have Prime Shipping and it's still more affordable than any other similar options I could find. If you happen to remember or purchase a similar SheIn moto jacket I wore in the fall (it's sold out now but you can see my post here), for comparison this one is thicker and slightly warmer. If you happened to get that one you probably don't need this one too, unless you want something that keeps you a bit warmer.

These jeans are probably my favorite that Express released in the past year! They're true to size, flattering and comfortable. And I love the faded black look so I don't have to worry about them actually fading when I wash them!

My exact leopard boots are a few years old from Macy's but this pair on Amazon is pretty similar at a comparable price point. My tee is the discontinued "Skimming Tee" from Express, but it's a pretty basic v-neck - Target has one that would work for under $10 right now.

We really haven't mastered taking close-up shots of jewelry and accessories (nor have we tried that much, to be honest!), so I'll just use some stock photos below to talk about this bracelet I'm loving. I wanted a mixed metal bracelet because I love how easy it makes coordinating all jewelry and hardware on clothes, bags or shoes. I also usually like chain link style bracelets, so I found this one on Amazon for under $20 and didn't realize at the time that it's inspired by a David Yurman bracelet. Well, at least I assume the David Yurman one came first!

While the stretchy, easy on/off link bracelets like the David Yurman options are my very favorite, this type of toggle closure is second place and still much easier for me than lobster claw clasps on bracelets. I did have to remove a few links to get the right fit but it was a very easy adjustment to make with just some pliers. I highly recommend this piece if you want a David Yurman look for less or just for a simple, versatile bracelet.

Currently:
On the first Wednesday of the month I like to join Anne for her "Currently" to share a few random lifestyle topics based on the prompts she creates. So here's what I'm currently Finishing, Subscribing, Wishlisting, Watching and Hearting this month!

Finishing: By the time you read this, I hope to be finished with both of my current reads. My current Fiction book is From Lukov with Love  - I'm liking it but not quite as much as this author's other books. For Nonfiction I'm almost done with The Culture Code - honestly it's pretty boring and I can't wait to finish and start something else. I'll give both a full review in my February book reviews next Tuesday, along with quite a few other books I read this month.

Subscribing: I only have one magazine subscription right now, and that's Redbook. While I do enjoy it a lot and think it's underrated, I probably won't renew again unless it's free with airline miles. Considering I spend less than ten minutes a month looking at it, I probably won't miss it. Between blogs, books, and social media I don't really feel like I "need" magazines anymore.

Wishlisting: I used my birthday discount last month (50% off any one piece during your birthday month) to get the Kendra Scott Alice Earrings in gunmetal and I love them! I'm adding the Rose Gold version to my wishlist because they are a little more dressy and make the perfect date night/night out earrings. I know I would definitely use both metal options. I'm definitely waiting for a good sale though. Hopefully they'll have one for President's Day or maybe Valentine's Day?

Watching: I'm currently not watching any TV shows, so I've been doing lots of reading instead (as you'll see in my book reviews).

Hearting: Well, since everyone talked me out of a white bag last month, I now have my heart set on a pink bag for spring. I haven't decided if I should go for a crossbody or satchel style, but here are a few brand name and budget options (with some designer-inspired looks) that caught my eye:

Shop Tory Burch Bags (Fleming) | Shop Kate Spade Bags (Alena)

Thanks for stopping by today and I'll see you back on Friday!

  1. Amazon really has some great pieces, I've only bought a few articles of clothing but so far they've been good quality and of course a great price. I really like the leopard booties, I've been wanting a pair but it's so close to Spring now I think I should wait until next Fall, lol. Decisions, decisions!

    1. Yeah, I would definitely wait on leopard booties until next season! There will probably be some good options then. And yes, Amazon can be very hit or miss with clothing but with "practice" (ha!) I've found a few brands that work for me pretty consistently.

  3. Oh I love pink bags, and you shared some nice ones! :) I like your outfit too, the printed ankle boots are lovely.

Thank you for the link up!

Hope you're having a good start to your week aside from the dentist issues. I'm busy, but not as much as last week, so that's nice! :)

    1. Thanks for reminding me to get these boots back out again before the season is over! LOL. I kind of forgot about them. I do love the look of that Amazon crossbody it's very Chanel Boy Bag/Rebecca Minkoff inspired!

  5. I want a pink bag too. Why are you not getting a white one? I've been debating. I think I'd carry it more than pink. I do have a really pretty muted pinkish/taupish/whitish Kate Spade hobo from last year that I am looking forward to carrying again so I probably don't need another similar color.

    1. Right? I think white would be a more versatile color! But when I've posted about it in the past I get so many comments saying how hard it is to keep them clean. So now I'm worried about that.

    1. Yes! It's definitely the best time to buy. :) It's easy to do it if you have a local store (they just check your ID) but a friend of mine was still able to do it without a local store. She had to call in and send someone a copy/photo of her ID to show her birth date. A bit more hassle but worth it to save 50%!

  8. Every blogger seems to be talking about how warm it has been lately, but here in Wisconsin it's still below zero. I'm so jealous. I love your jacket and booties. As for dentists, that is unusual. I've had the same dentist most of my adult life. I only switched once and it was only because I needed to have a crown put it in and I wanted a dentist that did sedation dentistry.

    1. Ha! You must be following a lot of California and Florida bloggers! I do think we are the exception. I can accept that I'm very picky about dentists...pretty sure that's the case. :)

  10. You mentioned a white purse...but have you noticed that white shoes are making a comeback? I always love your book reviews. Except that one time when you recommended Bear Town. Lol! Just joking! Have a great Wednesday!

    1. Hahaha!!! Too funny about Bear town! I definitely do not expect that one to be universally loved. If I recall, the first half of the book I was NOT into and wondering what the fuss was. I enjoyed the second half but can easily understand why others would not. And yes, I've totally noticed the white shoe trend. I bought a pair of white ankle boots in the fall and then returned them after trying them with a few outfits. They just felt so LOUD and I knew they would get lots of comments in real life...and not the good kind. I may reconsider white shoes for Spring/Summer in a different format. I'm not into the slip on flat mules that I've seen a lot of people wearing (it's just not my style) but I'm open to some other styles of white shoes. Maybe in March when it becomes Official Spring. :)

  11. Oh, those leopard boots! LOVE. And those Alice earrings are gorgeous--I haven't seen that style before but I may just have to treat myself to a pair soon! Don't you hate it when you're stuck in a book that you don't love and you just want to get through? I hope your next non-fiction is better. I can't wait to read your book review post!

    1. Ugh, yes. And I'm not very good at quitting books. With Fiction I keep thinking "but it might get better or the ending will be redeeming." With nonfiction I think, "but I might learn something at the end."

  13. I just went to a new dentist too. I grew up going to the same dentist for nearly 20 years so it's been a struggle to find one since moving to Nashville. I think this one is going to be a winner though.

    1. p.s. I love the moto jacket + simple tee outfit formula - you look fab! Unfortunately around here I have to be able to fit a winter coat over my moto jacket to be able to survive outdoors. Bah.

  23. Everyone talked you out of a white bag? Oh no LOL! Was I one of them? Truth be told, I love my white bag that I got last Summer, but I don't use it as frequently as I once thought I would. Not sure why! White goes with everything! But anyway, I love me some blush/mauve bags and the options above are really nice! I'm leaning towards a nude bag because it's not as stark as white, but still goes with more than pink. It's hard to decide! I think I want another Sezane bag because I love my black bag so much. Also loving the Alice earrings!

  25. I think I am totally copying this outfit tomorrow! So thanks for that! And unless I’m on a plane, I really don’t read magazines either. I used to look forward to my Lucky mag every month but it’s so different now with things like Instagram and Pinterest to turn to for outfit inspo. In addition to blogs!

    1. Oh that bag sounds gorgeous! Yeah, I would like to get as neutral of a shade of pink as possible. I think the Kate Spade option I displayed is probably too saturated, if that makes sense. I do like it but it might not be as versatile as the lighter pinks. I think?...TBD!
