Four Ways to Wear Taupe Knee-High Boots

|
One of my best purchases in the shoe department this year was a pair of taupe knee-high boots. I've been a fan of taupe ankle boots for a few years, so I'm not sure what took me so long to get a knee-high pair as well, but I'm glad I finally did. They go with just about everything! I also think I've been reaching for them more than ankle boots just because of the fact that I don't have to worry about cuffing my jeans or getting them to lay just so at the ankle. Cover that whole area up with the shaft of the boot and you're good to go!

This whole outfit was kind of a hybrid of looks that two of my blogger friends wore recently. Rachelle wore black on black + a gray(ish) outer layer in this outfit, and Caryl did black on black with similar boots in this outfit. I put both features together with my go-to weekend uniform of moto jacket, tee, and jeans and I was pretty happy with the result.

My moto jacket is true to size but a splurge piece. It's pretty warm and heavy for California, so I have to wear it as much as I can while we have the weather for it. I listed a couple of budget-friendly alternatives above, and I'm thinking about getting this one in blush for Spring since it's a lighter weight version. My black jeans are true to size and I'm wearing the Short length (I'm 5'4"), although I don't suppose it really matters as much when the ankles are covered like this anyway.
My boots are from Target (true to size) but unfortunately sold out in most sizes. This pair is the closest I could find at a similar price point.

In cased you missed some of my previous outfits with these boots, here's a look at four ways I've worn them.

Monday Motivation:
In case you're wondering about Monday Motivation, I really didn't intend to skip it this many weeks in a row! I've just had other content to share and it either didn't make sense to combine the topics or I just ran out of time to write this segment. Plus, the last couple of weeks have just been the "getting by" sort where I'm not working on goals and personal development as much as just getting the all of the life stuff done that needs to get done: doctor's appointments, car repairs, and keeping the kids entertained while they were on school break.

On top of that, audio books have become a big part of my strategy for staying motivated, and I've had a couple of duds lately so that hasn't helped either. I am sure you all understand and I always appreciate your support. I just didn't want to go radio silent and have anyone wonder if I'd dropped the topic altogether. I do hope to get back on track with more consistent, focused Monday Motivation. So if that's a feature you enjoy, thanks for your patience and stay tuned!

  5. I LOVE gray and taupe together. I haven't had the nerve to try knee high boots yet, but I wear my taupe ankle boots on the regular.

    1. Oh you should definitely try a knee high version! They are so convenient since you don't have to fuss with the ankle of your pants hitting the right spot, etc.

  8. TFS this! I bought a pair of taupe OTK boots this year and have only worn them with lighter colors. I never thought of trying them with black. This gives me more options!

  9. Third attempt commenting HAS to be the charm... I hope!

Do you get your Express jeans tailored? I feel like the ankle is too big on every single pair I own. Knee high boots seem like a good solution! I love how versatile this pair is. Great looks! How long do people wear boots for?? Until spring break??

    1. I don’t get them tailored. I think I just got used to the ankles but now that I’ve been dabbling in Abercrombie jeans (which is what I’m wearing in the striped tee outfit today) I realize the Express ones are in fact wider at the ankle. My supersoft pair (plain dark wash I wore with the Victorian blouse last week) are probably the narrowest. And yes, knee high boots or anything where the jeans tuck in are the easiest way to solve the issue!
Oh, and that's a good question about boots! I am guessing it mostly depends on the weather where people live. Or at least, that's what makes that determination for me. I'll take a poll on my Instagram Stories and see what others say. :)
