Everyday Outfits + TGIF 2/9/18

Happy Olympics-are-Starting Friday! Are you all planning to watch the Opening Ceremonies tonight? I'm not sure if I will or not yet, but I might DVR them just in case I hear about it after the fact and wish I had watched some of it. Aside from that, the only events I like to watch in the Winter Olympics are Womens and Pairs Figure Skating, but chances are good that I won't watch much of those either this year since my all-male family will not be into it. These days I just prefer my TV/movie selections to be family experiences. As for today, I have my usual Friday outfit recap of what I wore this week plus a few extra details as needed.

Outfits Part 1:

Coral Twist Front Tee, OTK Boots:

Details: I've always liked twist-front tops like this on others so I'm not sure why I haven't tried one sooner myself. I loved wearing this! It was so low-fuss because I didn't have to worry about it staying tucked in correctly, and the twist front made it more interesting than a plain tee. I'm wearing a Small and I think it runs true to size. I also think this will be great in Spring with white jeans as shown on the CS Gems site. It also comes in a pretty dusty pink color. My jeans and boots are both true to size.

Camel Cardigan, Black Lace Cami:

Details: Last month was my birthday month and I utilized birthday deals from a couple of retailers to make splurge-y purchases like this cashmere cardigan. It was 30% off, plus as an Abercrombie Club member you get 30% off + Free Shipping on any (one) order in your birthday month. (It's a free program similar to Express Next where you earn points for rewards. Totally worth it in my opinion!) Even at 60% off it was still pricey, but I've always wanted to try cashmere and this color was exactly what I wanted. It's true to size for Abercrombie and I'm wearing an XS here. If it's not your birthday month for quite some time, this this Lucky Brand cardigan looks really nice for about what I paid after discounts. For more a more budget-friendly option, this one from Boohoo and this one from Amazon are the closest I could find with buttons. This Amazon option in Mocha or Coffee is very affordable too, it just doesn't have buttons.

Grey Lace Trim Sweater:

Details: I'm wearing a Small in this sweater (normal for me at SheIn) and I do wish the sleeves were a bit shorter. (Funny, I usually find sleeves a little too short in a lot of SheIn pieces.) It's also a very thin sweater, which is probably to be expected for the $15 price tag. But it works for a warm climate and I liked the lace trim at the v neck to add a little something extra to an otherwise basic piece. My black jeans and black stacked heel pumps ran true to size.

Outfits Part 2:

Burgundy Tee, Jeans:

Details: This was my dentist appointment outfit this week. I feel like the pumps make it look dressier than it really is (it's just a t-shirt and jeans after all), but since it was warm and I didn't want to wear boots, these seemed like a good choice for laying on my back while they gagged me with the X-ray mouth piece thingy, stabbed my gums, and scraped away at my teeth. Everything I'm wearing ran true to size, so not much else to say on the fit of anything here.

Light Grey Cardigan, Black Cami:

Details: Speaking of SheIn pieces with sleeves that run short, this cardigan is a perfect example. My full post with this outfit is here along with some thoughts on how I'm working to cut back on time spent on my smartphone.

Khaki Moto Jacket, Charcoal Jeans:
Jacket (c/o) | Similar V Neck Tee | Jeans | Bar III Leopard Boots (Similar) | Necklace | Earrings

Details: My full post for this outfit is here (including all fit details) along with some chit chat about some other current life happenings. I wore this last weekend to run around town with the kids. They do a parkour class on Saturday, then one had a friend over and we all went to the trampoline park. Not that I personally did any jumping in this outfit! I just bring my Kindle and read on the sidelines while they bounce around. If any of you have tweens or older kids I'd love to hear your non-screen ideas for entertaining them and their friends on the weekend. We've been to the trampoline park way too many times in the last few months and I'm ready to switch it up!

TGIF
On Fridays I share a few little lifestyle tidbits to go along with my outfits.  I use the T.G.I.F. acronym to share whatever random words and topics come to mind for each of the letters. Here's my list this week!

T- Timberlake
I know this is basically old news since the Super Bowl was last Sunday, but what did you think of Justin Timberlake's halftime show? I thought it was good...but not great. I thought it was lacking in the production quality or "wow" factor I've come to expect from other halftime performers.

G- Gift Ideas
I started to list a few Valentine's Day Gift Ideas for Him in this section (based on things my husband uses almost every day), and then I ended up making it a separate post topic since it was pretty long with the graphic and all. So if you need some ideas for the man in your life, head to this post!

I- Instagram Tips
If you're on Instagram, you might notice that people are making their Instagram stories all kinds of fancy lately. If you find yourself wondering "how did she do that?" on a daily basis, this post and this one have some great tips on apps and things to use for fancy Insta-Stories and highlights.

F- Feedback
This is the third week in a row that I've used F for Feedback, and I promise it's the last time for awhile! Just letting you know that I'll go over the Reader Feedback survey results on Monday in case you are curious to see how others weighed in on different topics. Thankfully I don't think I need to make a lot of dramatic changes in the way I do things, however thanks to your input I will definitely shift certain topics to higher priority and frequency, whereas others will be nudged down a little. Stay tuned!

  6. I agree about JT's performance. It was fun to watch but it didn't wow me. Whatever year it was Bruno Mars, now THAT was a show! I love that twist front top. I've seen those around too and haven't tried one myself, but I think I need to.

  8. I wasn't a huge fan of the halftime show either. I definitely thought Bruno and Beyonce were much better. I like your outfits this week! Those leopard boots are so chic! I hope you have a great weekend!

    1. Oh that's a great suggestion! I am honestly not even sure if we have an indoor pool here (aside from Great Wolf Lodge in Orange County...which is $$$$) but I should look. Or at the very least a heated outdoor pool - my kids love to swim.
