Everyday Outfits + TGIF 1/25/18

Happy Friday! I hope you all had a successful, productive week! Ours was a typical week of homework, doctor appointments, meetings at school (hard to believe we're already starting the registration process for next year!) and so on. Nothing especially exciting but that's how life is most of the time! Today I've got another round-up of recent outfits I've worn with a little info on sizing and so forth, plus my TGIF topics of the week!

Outfit Recap:

Grey Sweater Jacket, Black OTK Boots:

Outfit Details: This sweater jacket is "One Size" and fits like an XS from Express. I'm wearing a Small in this Black Lace Tank and usually I find PattyBoutik runs small, but I think you can order your true size in this.  My light wash jeans are true to size. My over the knee boots are sold out but I own the similar pair I linked in cognac (shown with the cowl neck sweater below) so I can tell you they do run true to size, stay up on the legs, and are a really good option for under $50.

Lavender Off the Shoulder Sweater + Leggings:

Outfit Details: What can I say? I was having a Flashdance moment with this outfit! I knew this sweater was a little bit of a risk for me from a practicality standpoint, but since I didn't have to go anywhere this day besides school pick up/drop off and the gas station, I thought it was safe to try. What I can tell you is that the sweater is one size and will probably work best for XS/S. I can also tell you it will not stay down off the shoulders like I have it shown here if you plan to move your arms. Mine ended up on one shoulder most of the time and it was actually comfortable that way. It didn't restrict my movement the way some OTS tops do. Next time I'll try this with jeans and a lace bralette to dress it up a little more because I do like it and since it's not that cold here, the bare shoulder(s) works pretty well.

Camo Jacket, Jeans:

Outfit Details: My Express Camo jacket is sold out so I linked to some current options above. This t-shirt only comes in a 3-pack and is definitely a splurge, but it is true to size and I blame Rachelle for getting me hooked on this brand! They really are a very flattering cut. I did find this 3-pack of the same color combo for much less, I just can't speak to the quality or sizing on them. My jeans are true to size and I took a half size down in these boots.

Outfit Recap Part 2:

Leopard Scarf, Grey Cardigan:

Outfit Details: This leopard scarf is back in stock! No size notes needed for that! All other current pieces ran true to size. My cardigan is from Abercrombie but I own the similar option in the Mocha version and it is a very similar cut and fabric. I took a Small in the similar option.

Cowl Neck Sweater:

Outfit Details: All details in this post, plus my thoughts on scaling back on social media + blog/life balance.

On Fridays I share a few little extra tidbits here in addition to my outfits. Since most of these outfits have already been posted on Instagram or in a full post, I like to have something new here for my regulars! I use the T.G.I.F. acronym to share whatever random words and topics come to mind for each of the letters. Here's my list this week!

T- Target Dupes
I've seen a few people on Instagram post these Target dupes for the Vince Camuto Karinta peep toe booties, but in case you missed those and are looking for a neutral Spring shoe, these are a dead ringer at a fraction of the cost.

Vince Camuto $120 vs. Target $35

G- Greatest Showman
Am I the last person to see this movie? Or even listen to the soundtrack? Seems like everyone is talking about it and loved it so I want to see it sooner or later. I can't see myself dragging my husband and boys to the theater for this so it will have to wait for DVD/streaming options, but did anyone not like this movie?

I- Impressed...with this Mascara
I've been using "Maybelline Volume Express The Falsies" as my go-to mascara for at least five years, but lately I've been trying a few new options just to see if I'm missing out on anything good. I most recently tried L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Excess and I am really impressed!

At Target or Amazon (lower price as an Add-On Item)

I think it's going to be my new go-to! It does a great job of separating my lashes and maintaining volume without being clumpy. Regardless of which mascara I'm using, I always use the Voluminous Primer for volume.

F- Feedback
I've been learning a lot from reading the blog feedback surveys that several of my blogger friends have done (not to mention a lot of the poll questions on Instagram!), and I've been thinking about doing a survey of my own. My hold up has been exactly what questions to ask of you and what kind of feedback will be the most helpful and actionable for me. e.g. I probably won't ask, "Should I use a professional photographer for all of my photos?" because even though I'd love to improve my photos,  I'm not willing to commit the time and money to a professional right now. But I can ask which types of photos that I already take are most helpful to you! I mainly want to get a stronger sense of which current features are your favorites/least favorites and take it from there. Anyway, the survey is not ready today, but I'm posting about it now so you know to look for it if you're interested in sharing your opinion, and to hold myself accountable on following through with it!

Linking up with:

  1. Happy weekend, love your flashdance moment, it is so fun. I will have to try this mascara next, I just picked up a new one. Wish I saw your post before. Haven't seen the greatest showman yet, now I'm trying to watch all the oscar nominated movies.

    1. Mascara preferences vary so much so who knows...you may not even like it! But I'm glad I branched out!

  2. I love your OTS sweater, especially how you added the tank underneath. I'm in the same boat as you with the Greatest Showman, my husband and sons wouldn't be interested so I'll have to wait to see it! As far as mascara goes, I've tried lots of expensive ones but always come back to L'Oreal's Voluminous.
    Have a great weekend!

    1. Voluminous was my go-to for YEARS before I switched to The Falsies! You should try this new version though! It is similar to Voluminous but I think the wand gives more separation/definition.

  3. You have such a great collection of pretty, cozy sweaters! That off the shoulder one is so fun! And I love this idea for sharing a bit extra on Fridays and using T/G/I/F to prompt different things. What a great idea! And now I want to go to Target to pick up those booties and that mascara...

    1. Thanks Shea! I find I do better with some kind of writing prompt than just trying to pull stuff out of thin air! LOL!

  4. I love that OTS mauve sweater! It's such a fun piece and I like the idea of a tank underneath so you can still wear a normal bra. My husband and I haven't been to the movies in months so don't worry, we haven't seen The Greatest Showman either! I would love to soon though!

    1. Ha! Glad I'm not the last person to see it! And yes...I get used to wearing a strapless bra in the summer, but in the winter I like to avoid it as much as possible so the tank seemed a good way around that!

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment! I sincerely appreciate each and every one and always do my best to answer questions promptly!
