Everyday Outfits + TGIF 1/18/18

Happy Friday! I hope you all had a good week! The highlight of mine was getting back in touch with a childhood friend. We lost touch about 20 years ago when her parents moved away from the street where we both grew up. Social media wasn't really a thing then like it is now, so we just didn't stay connected and life went on. Long story short, my mom and sisters found some info on their family that helped us re-connect, and it's just brought back so many happy childhood memories this week. Aside from that experience it was a pretty ordinary week of mom life, so here's a look at what I wore and some notes on sizing and so forth.

Outfit Recap Part 1:

Black Longline Cardigan, Grey Tee, White Jeans:
SheIn Cardigan (c/o) Similar | Grey Tee (c/o) | White Jeans | Black Stacked Heel Pumps | Bracelet

Outfit Notes: My exact cardigan was sold out by the time I received it, but it's a nice basic piece and they have a current option with a very similar silhouette that looks to be a bit lighter weight than mine. Everything else ran true to size.

Camel Sweater, Leggings:
Sweater (c/o) | Leggings | Boots (Similar Option with more sizes | Bag

Outfit Notes: Last time I wore this sweater (posted here) I wore it almost the exact same way except with black jeans instead of leggings. But it's definitely long enough to wear with leggings as I found out this week. This brand consistently runs small and I'm wearing a Small in this sweater...and it's still quite very fitted. It's higher priced than items from say...Target or SheIn but in my opinion the items are higher quality so in this case you get what you pay for.

Blush Cardigan, White Lace Henley:

Outfit Notes: All items ran true to size except for the Lace Henley. I'm wearing a Small and it's more fitted than the same size in other brands (e.g. Express).

Outfit Recap Part 2:

Neutral Cardigan, White Tee:

Outfit Notes: This is about as basic as it gets, but most days I really don't need to be dressed up much at all! My cardigan is older from Abercrombie but this one looks like a good similar option on sale for under $30.

Grey Sweater, Black Jeans:
Sweater | Belt | Jeans | Boots (c/o) | Necklace | Bag (c/o) | Earrings

Outft Notes: The full post for this outfit is here, along with my experiences in making friends as an adult. All pieces ran true to size for me.

White Sweater, Camo Jeans:
White Sweater (c/o) | Camo Jeans | Boots  (Similar Option with more Sizes)

Outfit Notes: Full post for this outfit is here, along with some of my other current camo print favorites. My jeans ran true to size and my sweater is a size Small, which is what I typically take in SheIn tops, but I think it fits about like a Small from brands like Abercrombie or Express.

TGIF
On Fridays I share a few little extra tidbits here to go along with my outfits. Many of these outfits have already been posted on Instagram or in a full post, so I try to have something new here for my regulars! I use the T.G.I.F. acronym to share whatever random words and topics come to mind for each of the letters. Here's my list this week!

T- Tall Boots
If you have tall boots that need some help retaining their shape, these Boot Shapers are awesome!

My good friend (hi A!) actually got me a pair as a gift once and at that time I didn't know I needed them. I store my boots in their original boxes, but even still these really help them retain their shape (especially the leather ones). I see a lot of people storing their boots standing upright in their closets, and this would help a lot with that too.

G - Going to Dinner

This weekend our good friend (a former neighbor who moved away) is coming to town so we'll get to have dinner with him on Sunday. I'm not the best at keeping in touch with people once we no longer live in the same place so I'm looking forward to hearing how their family is doing. I don't know about you all, but I really enjoy it when bloggers (or people in general) share their weekend plans. I know a lot of people use social media to brag about all the amazing things they do, places they travel, etc., but most of the people I follow really make me feel normal. And I like that! They hang out at home and watch shows, take their kids to sports practice or other activities, go to boring events because their husband asked them to, etc. So even though I usually feel like my weekends are nothing special, I'm trying to share more often anyway with the hope that it makes you all feel normal too!

I - If you have boys...
and your boys hate to wear pants, I recommend these jeans from Target. They're $20 and they feel like sweatpants or pajamas. (Several of the reviewers made this exact comment!) My kids rarely ever want or need to wear pants, but sometimes they have to and these are the best they've tried (besides actual sweatpants, of course!). If they made them in some kind of flattering women's style I would get them myself!

F - Frustrating...
when the tried-and-true eyebrow pencil you've been using for over ten years gets discontinued! I've been using Sonia Kashuk's Brow Pencil in Taupe forever and when I went to purchase a replacement at Target the other day, the entire SK section was on clearance and nearly cleaned out. It's still available online (hence the product link), but this article confirms the mysterious, confusing departure. I thought about stocking up with the online inventory, but that just postpones the inevitable process of having to find a new one. Or maybe it will be just the push I need to microblade my eyebrows? TBD, but if you have a brow pencil you love (especially if you're blonde) let me know!

  1. I never do anything big during weekends either! We just had our wood floors refinished so we will begin the hard process of cleaning all the dust and moving furniture back! I love that lace henley top. It's gorgeous! Hope you have a great weekend!
