Grey Sweater, Red Bag + Link Up

|
Hello and happy Wednesday! This week is off to a productive start for me. I told myself I couldn't start a new book until I finished addressing all my holiday cards and that turned out to be an effective motivational tool. It took three long hours on Monday night but it felt great to get them out of the way. I even played some Pentatonix Christmas songs, so to any outsider I probably looked quite festive! And speaking of festive, today's outfit with this red red handbag is about as "festive" as I've gotten this month as far as outfits go!

Outfit Details:

First, let's talk about this grey sweater. This is my third piece from Pattyboutik on Amazon (see my black and white dress in this post and lace tank in this post) but I don't think it will be my last. While I've had some great budget buys on Amazon (i.e. under $25), Pattyboutik usually runs in the $30 - $55 price range, but the quality is much better than the bargain buys and worth the price in my opinion. It consistently runs smaller than items I buy at Express, Nordstrom, etc. so I always order one size up. Also, my blogger friend Kristen told me that this is one of her favorite lines as well because the items work well for tall people. For me (I'm 5'4" if that helps judge the length of this top), I just like that it's a basic piece with a fun detail for interest, plus the fact that it's completely no-fuss: no front-tuck required and the v-neck is high enough that I don't need a cami.

These jeans were my another Black Friday pick from Express. I find it a lot easier to find dark wash jeans that fit and flatter than it is to find light or medium wash jeans, so I was glad these worked out!

At this point you've seen me carry this red bag numerous times, and I am really loving having a red handbag again. I love the way it completes an outfit and even though it adds a moderate holiday touch this time of year, red works year round.

That said, I am kicking myself for getting a bag with a flap! I love the look, structure, shape and size of my bag, but time and again, front flaps start to annoy me unless there's an exterior compartment that allows for easy access to my phone. My current red bag has an exterior zipper compartment that fits my phone, but it's not very easy to get it in and out.

Don't be surprised if I ended up phasing it out and moving on to one without a flap. I'm especially liking #3 below since it has a convenient exterior phone compartment.

1. Shop Sam Edelman Bags (Gianna)
2. Amazon Shoulder Bag
3. Express
5. Shop Elizabeth and James Bags (Eloise)
6. Amazon Satchel

If I ever ask you all for your opinions on "which bag should I get" in the future and one of those options has a flap front, someone please save me from myself and remind me that I can't handle a long term commitment with a flap bag!

  1. I looove this outfit and the red bag is a nice touch. I need a red bag too but I'll get one in 2018, since I don't often buy bags I may invest a little.
