Virtual Valentines + Express Giveaway!

|
Valentine's Day is coming up on Sunday and personally, I prefer the traditional (here in the U.S. at least) elementary school version of celebrating. That usually involves a little party where everyone gives small notes and treats to all of their classmates and friends. I leave the romantic celebration stuff (flowers, chocolates, date nights, etc.) for birthdays and anniversaries. Instead of talking about outfits and shopping today, I wanted to just say thanks to everyone for their support here and pass out a few Virtual Valentine's to my "classmates."

Choice Comments: Comments are gold to bloggers because they help our posts stay relevant on search engines. And on a personal validation level, it's just nice to know that someone looks at what you're putting out there and had some kind of response to it! I truly appreciate my blogging friends like Kristen, Jill, Gretchen, Amy Ann, Megan and Tracy who have commented so faithfully on almost all of my posts since we first "met!"

Insta-Friends: The same goes for Instagram! Having any number of followers on Instagram means very little if those people don't like or comment on any of your pictures. People like Skye, Erin, Apryl, Donna, CarolinaMarta, Kellie, Tatiana, Kathy and Kristi always have the kindest words for me. And there are many more (usually) quiet supporters who I appreciate just as much, like @missyd68, @mermaidmemos, @i_want_my_2_dollars, @sbreynolds22, @kristmarklatsko, @karenahami, @ameliasfleurs, @paigend55, and @hmb972.

XOXO: There's no specific category that fits a few other people that I want to mention, like Kelly, Jessica, Margaret, Suzanne, and Val who've contacted me in some way and given me really helpful feedback on my blog. And Kristi W. who was probably the first person to ever read my blog!

Friends and Family: When I started my blog I never expected any of my real life friends or family to ever want to read it. I didn't think I would keep it a secret forever, but since none of them shopped at Express as far as I knew, I didn't really think it would be of much interest to them anyway. But once the word got out, much to my surprise some of them became faithful supporters, like Audrey (who also did my site design), Scarlet, Alair, Denae, Heidi, Stacy, and Adrienne. It means a lot that they would support me in something like this, and their feedback has also been very helpful in giving me perspective on what topics resonate with people outside of the fashion blogger/Express-shopping niche.

Pay it Forward: It means a lot when another blogger (or Instagrammer!) acknowledges you in some way by sharing your post or simply sharing that you inspired their purchase. There have been a few posts that I really enjoyed in the last couple of months that I wanted to share here to pay those good vibes forward:
  • Megan's post post about the journey of her ups and downs with weight throughout different eras of her life was very candid and engaging. I think most women (at least those of us who have to work hard to stay fit and healthy) will relate to something in there.
  • Jessica's post about how to make your legs look longer had great visuals and tips. And seeing as we're both 5'4" I was particularly interested in this topic! She also does fun Splurge vs. Steal Handbag posts that I enjoy.
  • Gretchen's Goal Series is so organized, detailed, and thorough. It gives me a lot of great ideas and motivation to improve myself!
  • Kristen's post on how to support your fellow blogger summarizes all of my feelings on blogger etiquette and community building.

Last but not least, I have three blogging friends I didn't even mention yet, but they fall into the category "all of the above." Carylee, Rachelle and Noelle, each consistently support me on the blog, on Instagram, and behind the scenes in real life. It's pretty funny that our shopping habits brought us together, but I'm so grateful for their genuine friendship.

And the four of us are so appreciative of each of you who support us in return! There is no way I could properly thank everyone in this post, so instead, we decided to do a little Express giveaway as a way of saying thank you!

Use the Rafflecopter below to enter for your chance to win a $100 Express Gift Card by following any or all of us on the social media channel of your choice. 4. This was such a sweet post and shows why you're a successful blogger. You have great style, but you also have a genuine and generous personality. Thank you for the shout outs. I'm really glad I "met" you. You've been an influential cheerleader to me and it's meant a lot. Now I'm going to go look up some of these other women you've linked to (like someone who has the Instagram handle "I want my 2 dollars" because that's just brilliant.

    1. Haha! That particular user is a friend of mine from Seattle, and yes, I appreciate anyone who gets that reference! Not everyone I listed has a fashion oriented-account or even public account one, all the more reason I'm impressed they can put up with me!

  7. What a super sweet and thoughtful post! If this doesn't make more people (but me) cry, then, well, clearly people have no hearts. Haha! Ok kidding. But seriously very sweet. And we all need to frame this photo. Or put it on a quilt so I can snuggle with you guys all the time. <3
