When I shared the burgundy jacket outfit on Instagram I got a few, "You bought the jacket!" comments. I passed on it during the Labor Day Sale (see my purchases here) because I wanted tops and accessories I could wear right away..and the jacket wasn't even included in the sale. When October rolled around I had a new Express Next Reward and Coupon and a dozen ideas in my head for how I was going to wear the jacket so yes, I got it. Expect a "Four Ways to Wear" post for this jacket in the near future!
Just in case you didn't get an email, text message or alert on your Express App, here's the scoop on the sale:
Update! A few of you commented below that you were able to use your coupons on top of the 40% deal. Please refer to the comments section for details! I tried it and it worked!
Here are some of my personal favorites in each sale category:
Outerwear: (Minus the) Leather Jacket: (These don't go on sale very often!)
Exact Jacket: Here
These were a staple for me last winter and while I haven't brought them out of my closet yet this Fall, they are back in stock now at Express with a few different color options for this year. The grey and beige I have on below look about the same as what's available now.
What I Ordered:
You know I can't resist a good sale at Express, and I always try to order ASAP so my sizes don't sell out. I bought the following four items online yesterday and I haven't tried them in person so I can't add any helpful insight on fit, fabric, etc. But if they end up in my outfits at some point at least this way everyone else has the chance to get them at the same price as me right now!
I'm a chronic trend observer and every week I share a few trends I noticed on my Snapchat feed, so here's what I saw this week:
1. Fall Baking
This week I noticed lots of people baking fall-themed goods like Apple Pie and Apple Cinnamon Muffins. I'm always up for trying out baking trends, and this week on Snapchat I shared the pumpkin bread I made. For about ten years I used the extremely popular Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread Recipe from Allrecipes, but last year I decided to switch it up and try the Starbucks copycat version found here. It's become my new go-to! I don't know if I think it's really better than Downeast Maine but I just needed a change after so many years. And the spices are just different enough between the two to make it taste "new" to me.
I guess this is a good way to help offset all the Fall Baking, but sharing your workout in one way or another is definitely a popular Snapchat theme. As for the workouts themselves I see a huge variety! Crossfit, Pilates, Barre, Flywheel, Jogging, Body Pump, Yoga...you name it! I think that's the surprise for me in all this is that there isn't one workout trend that really dominates my feed.
I'm inconsistent at best about Snapping my workouts but I do love this trend because it always gives me a little more motivation.
And on the subject of my workouts, I had a request last week to share my weekly workouts, and that's easy enough for me to do so I will try to remember to add it in here on Fridays for those who are interested. Here what I did this past week:
Saturday: Cardio Kickboxing & Martial Arts Class (1 hour each) at a local studio
Sunday: 2 Dance Classes at a local studio (1 hour each)
Monday: Cathe Friedrich Lift it HiiT it Legs DVD (Amazon)
Tuesday: Cathe Cardio & Weights DVD: Timesaver Step Premix (Amazon)
Wednesday: Cathe Lift it Hit It Chest, Triceps Shoulders DVD (Amazon)
Thursday: Eoin Finn The Pursuit of Happy Hips: "All Downhill" Premix (Amazon)
Friday: Cathe Lift it Hit It Back, Biceps, Shoulders (Amazon)
Friday's workout is actually what I'll be doing right around the time you're reading this post, but since my M/W/F workouts are weights DVDs that come in a series (by either Cathe Friedrich or Amy Bento), I already know what I'll be doing barring any illness or emergencies.
If you're new here and missed my original posts about my workouts and eating habits, you can find them here and here. The main difference between then (June 2014) and now is that my weekend workouts are now outside the house! I do love working out at home for the convenience factor and I wasn't really seeking a change. I just happened upon both my Saturday and Sunday workouts and decided to give them a try since they were drop-in/no commitment, and now I really love them too just for the variety and social aspects.
* * *Whew! Big sales make for pretty long posts! Thanks for reading if you made it this far, and now it's time to go out and enjoy the weekend.
