Features and Favorites 2/7/14

|

I started off the week with a feature on a celebrity Express fan and little did I know at the time that I'd be ending it the same way! I have two more celebrity-in-Express sightings to report today, but not until we talk about a few other fun fashion finds first. (Holy alliteration, Batman.)

If you're planning some kind of Valentine's date for next week, just say yes to this Striped Tube Dress as seen on Christine of XO Christine Marie. First of all, it has pockets. I always give bonus points for working pockets on dresses and skirts. Second, it looks perfectly Valentine-y the way she paired it with a red blazer. And if it's not a perfect 72 degrees year-round where you live and you might get frost bite in this outfit, I think it would be just as cute paired with some tights or leggings. (And a scarf and mittens and coat?)

Next up: jeans! Both of the other two girls in my featured looks are wearing the Stella Destroyed Ankle Jean Legging in Light. First, Erica of Casually Styled wore her Stellas with a killer blazer (sadly not from Express, but check her blog for similar options!) and some black Converse for an edgy-sporty look.

And I recently found another Express girl after my own heart, Kate of Green Fashionista paired her Stellas with comfy riding boots and a scarf:

I know she's a true Express fan because she's also wearing the popular Abstract Scroll Hinge Bracelet with her outfit above, and I even spied Express Glam perfume on her fragrance tray here.

So if you're keeping tabs, that's three votes total on this blog for the the Stella Destroyed Ankle Jean Legging in Light, because I have these and have shown some outfits with them as well. I think they pair really well with darker colored tops, like the three of us chose below:

I've talked more about the regular Stella Destroyed Jean Leggings (shown below) because I do think they hold their shape a little better in wear than the Light version. But I really love both, and since jeans are Buy One Get One for $29.90 right now, it clearly makes sense to get two pairs. (And of course, there's a coupon code running over the weekend. See my side bar or sign up for Express Next to get an even better code.)

Celebrity time! In keeping with the jean theme, People Style Watch is crediting Express for these boyfriend jeans on Julianne Hough.  The Ankle Rolled Boyfriend Jeans would make a good similar option, but Julianne's jeans look lighter to me. There are also the Stella Bleached Ankle Skinny Leg Jeans, which have a similar wash, but don't look as distressed as Julianne's, so... frankly I'm not 100% convinced these are Express jeans based on what I can find online. Sorry for the false alarm.

With Brooklyn Decker I'm a little more sure that this is a Cropped Mixed Stitch Sweater from Express. This is the second time Brooklyn has made the list and her second time in a cropped sweater, too (see her first appearance here). I guess she knows what she likes!

If you want something more literal to wear on Valentine's day, you can see how Cort in Session styled this Striped Heart Graphic Sweater Dress with leggings and red Hunter boots.

I recently added the BouclĂ© Print and Outlined Stripe Portofino (shown below with this necklace) to my family of favorite shirts, so I'm sure I'll be creating some outfits with those soon. And I've been happy to see a few of my blogging friends adding to their collections as well! Great minds! Safety in numbers? I don't know, but it always helps me to see non-stock photos of these shirts since the colors often look different than they do on the website. This week I saw Chelsea Blue on More Pieces of Me and Bitter Grape on Leopard Martini.

Hopefully no one needs help figuring out that True White is truly going to be white, but since I never get tired of outfits with this shirt, I had to share Noelle's classic look today:

I've recently seen the brown version of the Express Leopard Infinity Scarf in stores, but it hasn't been restocked online in quite some time. However, the Gray Leopard Scarf is consistently in stock (along with several other color options hereand even though it doesn't get as much blog love, it's still a great piece to own.

I've previously shown this look by Brenna of  Chic Street Style, (on the left) and this week Carylee of More Pieces of Me wore hers (right). I wore mine recently as well (center), and I think our three looks give a good indication of each of our current climates (Not Cold, Cold, Freezing Cold).  I also love that Carylee and I both went for the Sunburned Zebra Joke look in our styling choices for this scarf!

(In my outfit I'm wearing the Express Peep Toe booties, which now seem to be completely cleaned out from the clearance section. Nordstom still has this option at 50% off, and you can read my comparison of the two options here.)

Thanks for reading today and I hope you found some shopping and style ideas here!
