Holiday Express-ions: The Wishlist

Holiday Traditions

I will be the first to admit that the holidays completely stress me out. There are just too many details and obligations piled on top of all of the usual details and obligations, and I barely feel like I get a chance to enjoy myself. I am always looking for ways to simplify the holidays so I can have more enjoyment and less stress.

That's why I think wishlists are one of the best holiday traditions. I never have a clue what to give people, even those I know really well. And on the flip side, I don't expect people to be psychic about what I want. I do believe in the saying, "it's the thought that counts," but it also pains me to see people waste their money on a Scottie Dog sweater for me that I know I'll never wear (true story).

I loved doing my Wishlist Wednesday post recently to see what other people have their eyes on, and I thought it would be fun to do it again with a different set of bloggers to see what they would put on their holiday wishlist from Express.

First up is Chelsey from Patti Cake. You are guaranteed to smile when you visit her blog, and her fun personality shines through in all of her outfit choices. I loved this amazing picture of her at the Eiffel tower in a Striped Ponte Knit Fit & Flare Dress from Express. (Full outfit details HERE.)

What's next on her wishlist from Express? Take a look below to see what pieces she has her eye on:

Chelsey's Express wishlist

Short sleeve cropped tee / Anchor and Knot Midi Ring Set / High Rise Acid Wash Ankle Jean Legging / Striped Tube Dress / Reversible Leopard Jacquard Sweater / Double Chain Stacking Ring

My Shopping Notes: I love how fashion forward and adventurous Chelsey is in her choices. And I think that Striped Tube Dress will be going in my wishlist for spring. You can't go wrong with stripes and it even has pockets! And I don't think the stock photos of the rings do them justice, because check out how cool they look in this Instagram photo. (Double Chain Stacking Ring shown with Geometric Cut Out Ring and one piece of the Anchor and Knot Midi Ring Set.)

I just discovered Katie of Style Diary Blog through last week's Holiday Linkup and was immediately impressed with her impeccable makeup skills and nail art. But I was also really happy to see that she has one of my personal favorite Portofino shirts, the Contrast Piping Portofino, and this is the first time I've seen this particular one on a blog. (Go HERE for the rest of the details in her look.)

Here are some other things at Express that Katie has her eye on:

Katie's Express Wishlist

Heart Jacquard Tunic Sweater / Open Toe Side Cut-Out Heeled Runway Bootie / Metallic Jacquard Fit & Flare Dress / Striped Convertible Sleeve Portofino Shirt / (Minus the) Leather Sleeve Wool Blend Jacket

My Shopping Notes: First, you can never have too many Portofinos. Second, that dress is so gorgeous in real life and it's a great deal right now at 50% off. For my fit notes and details on the dress go HERE. Finally, I tried on the booties in store, and you can read HERE why they didn't get my seal of approval, even though they have two good reviews online. But I fell in love with the look of them, and my friend and shoe expert Carylee sent me some alternate suggestions when I told her about my dilemma. I ended up getting this pair  (below) instead. They are totally comfortable (188 reviews that are mostly 4-5 stars) with none of the same issues as I had with the Express pair and in the same price range, so I highly recommend them if the wishlist pair doesn't work out!

I first introduced Erica of Casually Styled back HERE when she wore the popular Striped Shaker Knit Sweater (see my fit notes HERE) shown below with Stella Destroyed Ankle Jean Leggings (I have and love these too!). Erica manages to show a wide range of casual outfits on her blog that always look polished and put together while staying practical and functional for her lifestyle as a busy mom of little ones. (Go HERE for the rest of the outfit details in her look below.)

Take a look below to see what Erica has on her wishlist from Express:

My Shopping Notes: That bomber jacket?! To die for! That looks like a great piece to dress up or down. And I love the idea of the striped pant and would love to see how Erica would style them. I also thought it was fun to see that two of my participants chose the same sweater (in different colors). I think hearts are having a moment, and I just saw a celebrity wearing a similar sweater:

That's Olivia Munn wearing the Alice + Olivia Emmy Sweetheart Sweater. It costs about eight times as much as the Express sweater, so for those of us who don't have a celebrity budget, I think the Express version is a great option.

My wish? That I could end this post like an episode of Oprah's Favorite Things where everyone gets all the things on their list and there are tears and hugs and confetti all around. But since that's not in my budget this year, I hope you enjoyed reading along and found some new shopping and fashion inspirations along the way.
